Edale fell race. Fun racing with Mssrs Bond and Johnson. Bit blowy out - felt good on the climbs and the flats (well undulations) but struggled to keep up on the technical descents. Well out of contention by the road at the end. Good blow out.

Easy warm up and down - warm down was wetter than the warm up.

Wimped out of going for a long run after the fell race, so pledged to go out with Clare to give us both some motivation. Disgusting out, but enjoyed running with the wife so ended up tagging along with her for the whole run. Impressed how strong she was running.

Now that I have entered the Euromeeting orienteering competition in Finland felt that I should do some orienteering. Went to Hugsett with OJ and JJ. Great area but really struggled with the orienteering. Oli had planned three courses - did a control pick first then two mini course. Walked the second half of the second course as I started to loose discipline and was just aimlessly running on my compass.

Easy run to work to shake out the legs.

Long run with Andy after work. Up porter valley, around Lady Cannings and back again. Kept it easy throughout which was a good thing as legs a little delicate from yesterday.

Run to work - only the direct route as I was running out of time.

Various bit of running around before and after the race.

Running race 31:17 [5] 5.06 mi (6:11 / mi)

Calver Fell race. Started a bit too conservatively - I was banking on Andy and Bond racing too hard and blowing themselves up on the hill. Didn't happen. Kept it honest the whole way round and felt pretty good on the downhills. Stomach felt a bit tight on the uphills but much better than the intercounties where I frankly just felt nauseaus. So ended up in 3rd about 45 seconds back. Last ran the race in 2005 (with Dr Middleditch) and have managed to get myself 3 seconds fitter over the last 6 years. Result.

Long morning run with the Arctic Monkey's on repeat which I am trying to learn by Friday. Enjoying the new album - favourites include Suck It and See and Don't Sit Down. Having a bit of love / hate thing with Brick by Brick.

Run to gym and then home.

Drills with KC and the gang. OJ looked relieved that I turned up to give him some male company.

Steady run with Dr Thake. Seemed to bump into all the wildlife in Rivelin Valley today including (the crane, about 100 squirrels, a chaffinch, a few rats, and some ducks).

Run to Bolehill and then home after drills.
