Running 56:26 [2] 7.14 mi (7:54 / mi) +180m 7:20 / mi

Decided to stop off in Bristol to break up the journey back from Cornwall. OJ took me around his old stomping ground - Ashton Court which was a nice place for a run. Skirted around a mountain bike race that was going on; lots of tired (and muddy) bikers competing on 3/6 hour endurance race. Head certainly felt a bit clearer by the end.

Got awakened by Shane shouting - "Rob and Oli are you awake." Following grunted responses the groom told me that we were going running in 15 minutes. Ran with Dave, Dave, Oli and Shane. Shane bounded off and took us around a great run (including the beacon) in brilliant sunshine and great views. Finished the run with a dip in the sea.

A great start to a great day filled with sun, fun, bubbly, stories, beer....and techno.

Sun soaked run on Dartmoor. We used OJ's OMM map (officially the most expensive map I have used as it cost us 80 quid). Found a nice out and back route picking up trods and paths along the ridges.

Run to gym and then to work including some drills. Felt very stiff and jerky on my drills but this was not a surprise.

Gym session - it had missed me. Took it easy today to ease my way back into it. It was delightfully empty.

Ran out to the general cemetery at lunchtime. Did a little loop and scoped out a 2 min rep. Ran 8 x 2 minutes with 1.30 recovery. Great little park for reps and it will be good for a hill session. Felt ok on the reps, if a little stiff and stale.

Hilly long run after work - work, home, Worrall, Wharncliffe and down the ramp back home. Never really got into it today, and felt pretty pasted by the end.

A doctorless run up riv valley to post box and back. Lovely morning.

Slow jog up to Hallam Cricket ground. Picked up some paths I have not been on before.

Warm down with Pete. Legs feeling pretty mashed.

Running 22:21 [5] 3.41 mi (6:33 / mi) +450m 4:39 / mi

Hallam Chase. Started from scratch with Dr Thake. Managed to get a slight lead on the downhill to riv valley and then Dr Thake caught me back up by the turn into Stannington (felt like a sack of spuds going uphill!). Maintained my lead (just) to the bottom of rivelin valley but Andy passed me just before Den Bank (as I stopped to swat a wasp/bee that had stung me on my cheek (my face) - ouch). Andy powered away and won by about 10 -15 seconds.

Good run out but felt pretty rubbish /unfit running (not a surprise). Great race - something that should be on any Sheffield runner's to do list.

York Urban race. Enjoyed this. Managed to hold my concentration in the complicated bits I got more lax mid course and made a number of unforced errors (ie I just switched off). Legs felt ok but was nowhere near Kris. Had to leave it to the Missus to show them how it is done.

Easy leg spinner. Left hand side of bum sore but eased off as the run went on.
