Nice leg shaker outer with Candyman and Pete from Monsal Head. Checked out Monsal trail for the first time - really impressed (and it would be great for marathon training). Went off piste a few times to pick up some smaller paths. Fun, but mainly flat.

Early morning leg loosener from the B&B. Just ran out and back. Ran a negative split by 5 seconds. Get in.

Inter counties fell race. It hurt. Finished 22nd compared with 9th last year. Don't feel as fresh mentally or physically compared with last year so result was not a surprise but more of a stark statement in terms of "where I am" fitness wise.

Race itself was fun - a good hilly route. My mediocre performance can be explained by 90% fitness, 3% a milky coffee too soon before the race, 2% footwear, 5% lack of practice on the hills.

Running 1:02:24 intensity: (52:24 @2) + (10:00 @5) 8.33 mi (7:30 / mi) +198m 6:59 / mi

Run from work and then up Rivelin. Was going to go to Hallamshire but my right hand calf was really sore and I didn't want to push it. Stretched it out at home and then went out again. Did 5 minutes at tempo and then 2 x 2 minutes. Calf settled down by the end.

Early morning run. Went early doors as I was going on a date with the Mrs in the evening (to a lecture on Architecture don't you know). Gorgeous morning and had Dam Flask to myself.

My newly christened Victor's kenyan hill session. From gate at the bottom of the allotments on Rivelin all the way up the hill to just passed the stables. Tough hill and gradually slowed (went from 4.45 - 5.15) but downhill was constant.
