7 AM

Running 20:00 [1] 1.5 mi (13:20 / mi)

Very easy leg spin from the hostel. Stopped a few times along the way to do some stretching.
10 AM

Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up and down.
11 AM

Orienteering 1:20:00 [5] 12.0 km (6:40 / km)

Long race. Feeling pretty battered from the start. Orienteering was a bit sloppier to begin with as I was less disciplined in terms of keeping contact with the map. Got a bit of a shock when Spongey caught me up. This focussed me and it was good to step up a gear. We were constantly taking slightly different routes and swapping the lead which was good fun.

Felt like we had been out forever so was surprised that it was only 80 minutes.

8 AM

Running 20:00 [1] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Early morning run from the hostel. Bumped into Helen and we jogged for a bit.
11 AM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up and down. Dragged Nails to the start again as part of our warm down.

Orienteering race 38:00 [5] 3.8 mi (10:00 / mi)

Middle race. Physically I felt horrible the whole way and would have happily stopped after 10 minutes. The orienteering though was fantastic and I really enjoyed myself. Lost my shoe to a marsh at one point having made the rookie mistake of not taping my laces and lost 45 seconds finding it and putting it back on. Missed again in the rhodoes and the boulder at the end when I was in serious oxygen debt. Good fun.

8 AM

Running 20:00 [1] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Very easy run with Neil from the Travelodge. We found a footpath and a stream and it was all very pleasant.
5 PM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Warm up and down.
6 PM

Orienteering race 18:00 [5] 2.55 mi (7:04 / mi)

Sprint race. This was mind blowing based on the amount of orienteering I had done recently. Never really got any flow or into 4th let alone 5th gear. That said it was a pretty steady performance with no big misses. Great fun.

Orienteering 35:00 [3] 3.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Evening orienteering at Loxley. Massed start gaffle tastic course. Good fun but I was taking it very steady on the rocks. Ran out of orienteering juice after 20 minutes and struggled to stay focussed on the second half.

Tuesday May 11, 2010 #

Orienteering 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Orienteering round the Edge. Map memory, short sprint and a line. Good stuff.
6 PM

Running 32:00 [2] 4.5 mi (7:07 / mi)

Run to the Edge and then back home. The Edge might be ripe for some bounding.

Monday May 10, 2010 #

6 PM

Running 25:00 [2] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Run home (the short way) and then with the group
after drills.

Drills down at club (we are now paid up members) including some hill sprints.
