Orienteering 1:03:00 [4] 7.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Compass sport cup. Not my finest hour of orienteering, but my aim was to enjoy the orienteering and I really did. Made two massive mistakes (9 minutes in total) + lots of little ones. Lots of work to do, but at least I am starting to feel like I want to do it. Hats off to OJ (and begrudgingly Mike "one nil for me in 2008" Sprot) for good clean runs!

Running warm up/down 25:00 [1] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Running 55:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)

Easy run to Greno with Neil and Mike - checking out an extension to Beeley.

Orienteering 31:00 [4] 5.0 km (6:12 / km)

SYO club champs mass start team score. I was in a formidable team with Janet and Louise Adams. Had a good little burn up with Mike and Neil. Chuckled to myself as Mike and Neil ran off in what I thought was the wrong direction - only to realise that they were going to a control that I had not seen on the map. Had to get an extra control that was my undoing and was one minute late (damn it). Had fun though and the team event worked well - cheers OJ.

Orienteering 23:00 [2] 3.0 km (7:40 / km)

picking some controls up on the way to the pub for lunch. Got an award for being the muppet of the year - certainly not something that I want to retain next year!

Running 18:00 [3] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Run to work.

Running 35:00 [4] 5.5 mi (6:22 / mi)

Hmm time management let me down today. Plan A was, run to work in the morning, gym at lunch and then a decent session in the afternoon. Plan B (once work got really busy) was to leave early and do a running session and then some weights). Had to stick with plan c which was to leave work late and then squeezing in a session on the treadmill at the gym before meeting Clare for a hot date!

Running 18 [1] 2.0 mi (9 / mi)

Run to work - nice and steady.

Running 55:00 [2] 7.5 mi (7:20 / mi)

Run to hallamshire and then to session and back. Ran through Beeley on the way pack and Mike got in a boo because his shoes were going to get muddy. Properly spaced out for the last 10 minutes or so.

Running 28:00 [3] 3.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Bachelor's hills. Tough session but a good group of blokes to share the pain. 5 x first part of hill, then 1 big hill and 5 x second part of hill.

Orienteering 45:00 [2] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)

Orienteering session planned by Clare. Did 3 loops, 2 by myself and 1 with Mike map memory. Felt rusty and struggled with the mm exercise - certainly something I need to work on this winter. Mike had an almost 100% record. Good job I have 2 other orienteering sessions planned this week!

Running 45:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Run up Limb valley -steady. Really nice views on the top.

Running 1:15:00 [3] 9.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Run to work, then to track and then home. Felt really tired on the way back, but luckily did not have to carry my bag like Mike (sucker).

Running 28:00 [5] 6.0 km (4:40 / km)

5x1k with a minute recovery, then 6 minutes worth of sprint relays (across the length of the football pitch).

Times were very ordinary, but I blame the wind and the weekend (all between 3.03 and 3.08).

Monday Jan 7, 2008 #

Running 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run to work

S+C (Pilates) 1:00:00 [1]

Pilates with a new crowd. Clare arrived even later than me for once. Felt like quite a hard session.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Run home from pilates home - taking it steady as feeling a bit wiped from the weekend.

Running (Hill Sprints) 5 [3] 0.5 mi (10 / mi)

5 x 12 second hills at the end of the session up Rivelin Bank road.
