US Classic CHAMPIONSHIPS - Moreau Lake by Glen Falls NY
Green X 5.5K 220m climb
Wow, what an area on the top plateau - brilliant very technical and the course was excellent. What few trails were fairly well hidden by leaves - you needed to look for the discs on the trees. A little hesitation on #1 - didn't go far enough. lost 4+ minutes 8-9 as i ended up further down the hill from 8. lost a minute or so at 11 as lost my concentration and did not have a clear attackpoint. Overall a great course and really enjoyed the orienteering.
Good to see Alison who flew in from CO

A day one will never forget. Glued to the web and TV watching the miracle of the Chilean miners being brought back to the surface after 67 days. We need more of this type of community to overcome seemingly impossible issues. A beautiful example for us all to be inspired by - shame our national politicians seem totally incapable of learning from this!!

DVOA Event Tyler State Park - Green 5.3K
Another beautiful day. Definitely needed to get out doing some orienteering to get those brain cells going. The course was not technically hard, but Karl had done a nice job adding a liitle twist with 4 controls in the middle of the course being allowed to take them in any order. going to the first control in the box, I saw a route on what looked like a path crossing the river only to find it was a weir when I got there. As the water wasn't too deep went ofr it and it turned out so did many others. Definitely not the quickest option in the end. Slight error at 9 as I used #2 as a reference point when in fact it was slightly misplaced on the open hill and pushed me too far left. First time I had used the new ankle supports ASO that Randy Kemp had recommended. They felt good and provide good support.

DVOA Event Tyler Park - Sprint 1.9K
A fun sprint cousre around the Montgomery Community College campus which is on the edge of the map. Had a hard time really reading the map. definitely need to practice using the magnifier on the compass more to get used to the scale adjustments.
Vadim won in a time of 11.00
