Skate ski 1:25:00 [3] 20.75 km (4:06 / km) +475m 3:41 / km

Not a great ski as I was not super motivated and then Milo did his weird behaviour not wanting to come skiing once off leash. I decided to take him back to the car but then he was super jumpy and would not let me put the leash on. A several minute back and forth ensued...

Backcountry skiing (Mantra) 4:00:00 [3] 11.0 km (21:49 / km) +1425m 13:14 / km

Another outing to the Gorge this time with Tom and Jordan. It seemed to have snowed a little more since yesterday as the trailbreaking was harder (or the skinnier skis made it seem that way) and the lowest 100 m were slightly better. I broke trail up the left side of the bowl which given the previous avy cycle was not too stressful as the slope climber's left had run. It was pretty foggy at the top - we dropped over the backside and did a couple excellent runs. We climbed more directly to try and find an old track - if this is the plan probably best to stick close to the avy path until the bench is gained. Overall the far left option is easier. Skinny skis seemed to float OK in these conditions as long as I didn't drive them too hard.

Backcountry skiing (Pontoon) 2:30:00 [3] 8.0 km (18:45 / km) +800m 12:30 / km

We had a very warm storm Friday so wasn't sure what to expect at the Gorge today. Atsuko joined Courtney and I. Very heavy snow but supportive at the car then improved within the first few hundred meters. I took a novel uptrack on the ridge which had one pretty interesting section. The previous person boot packed while I managed to ski up. I'm not sure I would go up this way again but there is some good skiing further down the ridge from the top. We did one run into 13 and then back to the car. The skiing was good for the first 300 m and then very quickly got heavy. Atsuko was tired and couldn't be convinced to do another lap so skied back to the car after the second climb. The bottom section was crappy but manageable with the fat skis.
