Orienteering race 5:55:02 [5] 27.2 km (13:03 / km)
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 3.0

Pretty intense terrain with interesting rocky features. This year the event used Little Rock City (Salamanca, NY), a public lands area with a maze of rocks and boulders, that families with children enjoy visiting.

Wasn't too sure if the Altra Lone Peak were the right choice for this terrain, as the shoes are very soft on both sole and top, and the terrain was often rocky, stony, felled small togs covered by ferns, sticks. For a moment or two, I thought that my brand new shoes would not survive these six hours of harsh treatment. I am sure that on the NEOOC Python they will just fine, as there are no rocks there. But at least in the running segments on road and trail, the shoes turned out to be great. One thing, however (Tom: are you listening?), is that the shoe laces often untie.

Went counter-clockwise. The farthest I went on the northeast area was control 17, leaving being the two high-pointers 22 and 28. And 8 and 1 as well.
