Orienteering race 1:21:14 [3] 7.8 mi (10:25 / mi)

COC long M35. First start.
The original venue was cancelled due to marauding bears, and the organisers did a great job pulling the event together at short notice back at Rafter Six.

What I didn't notice was they changed the map scale on M35, from 1:10 to 1:15, at least until the maps were in the same box as W21. With 30sec to go, the nice organisers invited me to change course...

So it was all a bit weird, stop-starty, ultrasimplification to use the features, lots of slow walking and ultimately clean, less than a minute down on james. Most of the course in a completely empty forest, except for loads of deer (no bears) it felt more like a planning test run than a race.

Thought I'd won, since M35s were off first, right up to the prizegiving when Hiroyuki Kato won off an 11:55 start
