Orienteering race 23:00 [4] 3.0 mi (7:40 / mi)
RTC Stirling. First starter until Freddie Carcas got added to the list.
Caught Freddie early, despite being untidy in the castle, until flummoxed by levels at 7. Then steady, Scott Collier caught us, until crossed red lines sent me 13-16. Didn't know until I finished. Ooops.
Really superb course, even better than yesterday.
Massive wipe out on slippery cobbles at 4 in front of the marshals. Not an H&S issue, happens all the time, quoth I wiping the blood off the map as I limped away. Couple more falls later - interesting bum-colour in prospect.
Orienteering 56:42 [4] 7.0 mi (8:06 / mi)
So much fun earlier I was desperate to go out again! Got and entry, then got nailed by JonX to do a stint on the start. v.cold, and wobbled off into the castle again for broadly similar stuff, got going better and was 90 sec faster on the way out. Then the long legs began and the legs turned to jelly - wading through treacle in the end. Classic eyes bigger than belly error. (roll on M21E at Balmoral...)
Note
Big success for today: James! A first, and massive moral victory over me, he was 2 mins up before I mp'ed. He had a few moments of glory in the winners chair before Tam Wilson took over.
One more thing to get used to.
