Orienteering 1:36:08 [3] 10.0 mi (9:37 / mi)
slept:11.0

Should be a race, its a SOL after all, decent course on a great area. But couldn't really get going, just trotted round. No focus on running or on the map. No major errors, but a few wanders around where controls were well tucked in and didn't spot them at first visit to the feature. Need to read control descriptions.. Oleg won in 70.

Big achievement is racking up 23 hours much-needed sleep in 2 days.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [2] 7.0 mi (11:26 / mi)
slept:12.0

Balavil Romp. I've never made sense of the height on the plantation bit here, and being v. tired couldn't concentrate on map. Even stopped for a little lie down to admire the stunning views from the top, on a lovely sunny day. But basically couldn't be bothered to run much.

Running 58:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:15 / mi)

Steady run, Craigmillar, Jack Kane, faff about in the estates in south Edinburgh.

Running 54:00 [3] 6.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Run up to vote in the Scottish elections. Bizarrely, the SNP seem to have won Edinburgh south (from 4th last time) without even bothering to campaign. Nobody I know could even name the candidate.

Then hill reps 5x45 sec, 6x2mins. Very slow, heart not in it at all as I was planning a long run tonight when James was at Corstorphine.

A nail in the tyre put paid the that. Night out at KwikFit/Farmers. Lovely.

Orienteering 36:24 [3] 5.2 mi (7:00 / mi)

Jetlagged run round Kinneil. Surprisingly unpleasant. Green gunk still flowing.

Orienteering 19:00 [3] 2.5 mi (7:36 / mi)

Kinneil Urban. Its good, like really good. Should have the JK here.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.2 mi (7:09 / mi)

Early (6:30) morning drive and loop run on the Delaware and Raritan canal.

Running 47:00 [3] 6.5 mi (7:14 / mi)

Running training level 3. It's been a while.

After a huge battle with the Morristown one way system, I got to Jockey Hollow for a run round the white trail. Nice cool morning.

Meanwhile, America has gone nuts cos they killed a man, even though the bad guys didn't surrender. Sometimes the militarism of this place is scary, you get the impression they'd rather be feared than loved. I can't lose the image of a Westpointer strolling in, saying "Good morning, sir", and blowing OBL to hell. This is a country with the stomach for a real war with a real opponent.

That's probably me on the wrong side of immigration tomorrow then.
