Orienteering race (WA sprint champs) 26:24 [4] 3.36 km (7:51 / km)
ahr:177 max:188

Totally spent from this mornings effort. Surprised i actually started but enjoyed the map. 2 small errors so happy but i suppose that was due to slower pace

Adventure Race race (Perth Urbanmax) 3:55:00 [4] 31.0 km (7:35 / km)
ahr:162 max:200

Interesting day. Jason and I rocked up early due tot he wet roads being free of traffic for some reason on a sat at 715am. Parked accross the road and waited for rego to open. Once rego opened we received our A3 map in A4 proportion ( tight Arses) well at least we didnt need to laminate the dam thing as it fitted into one of jason's snap lock bag easily.

Biggest decision of the day was to stick with the rain jacket or go without. Trying to get a red t shirt over a rainjacket seemed stupid so off with the jacket. (good decision no.1). Headache no .1 came at the start when 150 teams were sent running out of a marquee 250m towards the clusheets. Thankfully Wally got the jump and we headed to a sheltered area and proceeded to ring anyone who would answer their phone. Luckily Danger had just got home from the Red Sea in Subi so was perky and firing on all cylinders!!

We started rattling through the clues and got the feeling that we were heading west first. Off to jacobs ladder. As we get to the freeway overpass at mts bay rd we discover a control at Sperth. Quick diversion over the narrows to tackle movies by soundtrack. A tag team effort gets us off and going towards jacob ladder as our next stop.

To get a stamp we were required to go to the top and back. meanwhile we are still trying to get people on the other end of our phones to solve the latitude and longitude problem. Pretyy hard to make sense of people when u are maxing at 200bpm!! Once at the bottom of the ladder it was turn around and head back up to continue our loop. Get to kings park rd and colin st and begin strip on street to reduce overheating. During this time luckily wal finds out we need to go back to Parliment house. We hunt around for 5min looking for a control which turns out to be accrross the freeway at the ARCH (keyword in the cluesheet) Finally punch that one and decide to run up hay st towards nando's in subi. We decide to nail another control by getting a photo done a t officeworks. Unfortunately we werent the first team with that idea. After a opportune toilet stop we head to nandos only to have our ego's shattered by missing out on a photo with nando's wingman.

Off to Subi station to try and catch our first bit of public transport but more importantly locate a copy of the big issue. Unfortunately we only achieve 1 out of 2. Train 8min away. We work out that there is no way we can cover that distance in that time so quick break and chat with 3 other teams.

First feed zone and then all hell brakes loose as the race is on to beatty park witht he other teams. We roll in second from the train to discover a short queue, Wally show brawn and leaps in shoes and all to bump the queue on exiting as the others struggle to put their shoes back on.

After a quick relocation in the park next door we run accross the intersection to the cheers of go boltboi!! ( lack of respsonse was due to my sheer focus, or was that total bewidlerment). Salsa time. Time to forck up withou the frock and let Wally be man enough to lead. We nail this challenge as 6 other teams struggle to succeed. Run down to Rockface and answer some timewasting ph calls whilst trying to harness up.

Up and down and off we go to the art gallery. Just as we have the art gallery in sight Wally scores the find of the day a free copy of the big issue!!

After harrassing the security guards in the art gallery we quickly leave onto our next free rest. A 3min wait befor eht etrain to claisebrook. after an in depth study of the map we barely make it off the train at claisebrook, much to the dissappointment of the other teams that had dissambarked. We gain a lead down to the gas works punch that and run to the eastperth bike hire. At this stage my legs are really flaggin and option to get to kings park are widened.

another wait at eastperth allows a rethink about the last control in kings park. With wally's wild steering we punch out a quick lap in the shitmobiles. I finally convince Jason to go the bus option thinking hay st so we start running up adel tce. As we near toyota a bus pases us and stops to collcet a couple of teams, i yell to jason to catch it as he had the better legs!! ONce on board we discover our luck had scored us a direct trip to frasers resturant in kings park.

A painful struggle to the DNA tower and the great feeling of knowing it was downhil to the finish. I find us a shortcut to the river and we take the footpath to the esplanade in a slow struggle on my behalf.

Wally inspiring words ensure a long stride length finsh to the finish line for the finish line photographer. Dissappointment greets us inthe form of Elliot and Tricky but good news follows with a confirmation of a second placing and a third overall.

Road Cycling (Floreat) 1:20:00 [4] 43.0 km (1:52 / km)
ahr:166 max:190 rhr:55 slept:6.5 shoes: Giant TCR 2

Met Tooms and his new girlfriend this morning. Boy did she look hot!! John seems to have lashed out and bought some fancy footwear to match his new partner.

Pace was cruisy until chase pack came through at port beach. Thats when things seemed to crank up a notch or five. The front guys decided to hang onto the chase group and then it was a solid pace until christchurch. Wasnt last in considering how my legs felt from the weekend.

Rode and chatted with tooms through to nedlands before trying to avoid a group split. Didnt contest sprint at UWA and pootled home with Tooms until floreat.

Poor bloke looked like the next few km were going to hurt him bad...
