Orienteering race 1:40:00 [5] ***** 6.8 km (14:42 / km) +110m 13:36 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlander

I thought the glasses would be OK since it wasn't actually raining, but they seemed to be even worse--perhaps because of the longer event. Thought about quitting at control 8 (half way).
Hard to say how well I dealt with challenging terrain (perhaps even more so than middle yesterday) because my concentration was so messed up over allowing glasses issue to happen two days in a row. A couple good legs and more bad ones.

Orienteering race 58:00 [5] ***** 4.1 km (14:09 / km) +98m 12:38 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlander

When I could see, I did actually OK reading some very challenging terrain. Working with the Surebridge map on simplification and getting ups/downs right seemed to help. No big mistakes--a few bobbles for the often the same reason--getting too careless on the attack. I get close then just fall into wandering mode too quickly.
But I absolutely have to do something about the glasses in humid weather. No point in o'ing when you can't see.

Orienteering race 40:00 [5] *** 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Montrail Highlander

Two sprint races at NAOC plus some warmup. Two major mistakes come to mind: a 180 out of one control->need to work on setting up getting away from controls better; and paying too much attention to nearby runners and not enough to the map.

Note

I'm sure I did something useful this week, but it was such a blur I don't recall. Working my butt off to get ready for the big meetings in Buffalo on Wed. and Thursday--which turned out so annoying I don't know why I bother.
