Note

Start of my annual "Anything Goes August". Since I usually follow such a strict training plan, I give myself a mental break every August, and just do "whatever". The only things I will continue to do is PT every day (or as often as I remember) and O at least once a week.

A much better day today. One big mistake and a few smaller ones. Pushed the pace towards the end, since it was a one day champs, so what was I saving it for? Beat Peggy on the run in, but Clare beat me by a few seconds for the bronze. Congrats to all the winners.

Thanks to Erin for setting up the GourmO lunches; they were great!

Edit: oh joy, having to kill 5 hours in the Syracuse airport. And getting to CLE too late to make the connection. I always wanted to spend the night in Cleveland (not!)

About the meet: I enjoyed the challenge of the terrain and course setting. The bugs were not a problem. The hotel was nice, parking arrnangementsmmade it a very sociable event. I enjoyed visiting with friends.

However, it s extremely frustrating to have spent all this money on airlines, hotels and rental cars for what turned out to be one day of competition, each, for Mike and I.

A bad day. More details later.
Edit: it's later. Here is my route. Total screw up at 2, stupid mistake at 8, lost time at 9 (see below). Also, the usual slow movement through the woods. Lost my shoes three times in the swamps between 8 and 9. Seemed to have accidentally turned off my watch in the middle. Very disappointed in myself today, because I didn't do what I said I would (like relocate all the way to the road the first time I was confused at 2)

In the meantime, control 9 on Green X (and control 8 on brown?) was protested. I understand that the decision was to void only a few classes. If so, I disagree with that decision. If the control is wrong, then it is wrong for all. I believe both the Brown and Green X courses should be voided.

Here is a close up of my track from the control. You can see that I found the control, and headed north, from a point that is quite east from the drawn circle.

PT 1 [0]

Really looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. And so happy to see 10 (!) women in my age class. It's going to be a lot of fun.

We've passed the two week mark for 100 degree days. This is getting old. Even if the temps are in the 80s in NY this weekend, it'll feel wonderful.
