skate ski 1:07:39 [3] 13.34 km (5:04 / km) +483m 4:18 / km
shoes: 11 madshus curvy red

It was inappropriately cold this morning, but I went out anyway. Headed up the hill chasing sunshine and warm snow, and it was actually quite nice.

Prerunning the red middle at GCO, so we could trade off James later. Went fine, a few little mistakes and half the controls had been knocked over by cows, but fun. My ankles aren’t in shape enough for two days of this in a row.

orienteering race 1:05:56 [3] 10.32 km (6:23 / km) +315m 5:33 / km

GCO a-meet red. The terrain was pretty great, basically running a 10k across lumpy mowed grass. I think it took 5-6 km before I actually touched any vegetation, and that includes grass over the ankle socks. This all meant very straight route choices reading contours, but it wasn't boring, and just what I was in the mood for.

Note

In SF for the last couple days. Pretty busy with a new game at work, also GDC this week. Also hotel housekeeping did me the favor of throwing away the clothes I had in my room yesterday.

ski-o! 47:41 [3] 5.66 km (8:25 / km) +72m 7:55 / km
51c shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

Ski-o in Prosser with Dad around the trails from Saturday. Conditions were pretty terrible, I never dragged the tires on Saturday because of the powder, so it was just the snowmobile tread. It wasn't bulletproof icy, but not really smooth either. Also lots of other snowmobiles had been through in the last three days, so lots of bonus trails. Fortunately it wasn't a big area, so by the fifth or sixth map exchange I had the real trails vs fake trails pretty well figured out and it got cleaner and fun. I'd say about half of it was whee-ski-o! and half was omg I'm gonna die and half was wtf is this trail? Good times.
