Orienteering race (Middle) 31:34 [3] 2.6 km (12:08 / km) +90m 10:21 / km

Fall Foliage Festival, CSU part of the CSU/NEOC A meet, Middle distance qualifier, Green Y

Lost a few minutes at 5, heading off on the wrong trail for a bit and then not taking a careful compass bearing from my attackpoint and going to a nearby hill. Surprised at how low and shallow the spur was. Then lost a minute or so at 6, looking around some nearby boulders with bare rock. Generally had some trouble reading the map I think because of all the green. Fun though.

Orienteering race (Middle) 38:18 [4] 3.1 km (12:21 / km) +105m 10:34 / km

Fall Foliage Festival, CSU part of the CSU/NEOC A meet, Middle distance final, Green Y

Lost a minute or so each at 3, 9, 10, and 12. Mostly going to a nearby similar feature, relocating and then going to the feature. Felt better able to run confidently since I was familiar with the trails and map. Nice course and fun map.

Orienteering race 1:37:11 [3] 5.5 km (17:40 / km) +180m 15:11 / km

Day 2 of US classics at EMPO

Again, really terrific courses and terrain. I felt like I was moving faster today, at least up to 8 and had no real difficulties until then. Slowed down a lot going to 8 and then 9 because of the steep, tough terrain. Lost a few minutes at 10 because I was too high on the hill and didn't relocate immediately. I was surprised that I placed so far down today because I though my run was slightly better than yesterday and the course maybe a tinge more difficult. It will be interesting to look at the splits but no time tonight.
