Note

My statistics for the year are below. What's not obvious from the totals was the change that occurred starting in June. For instance at the end of May (not quite half a year), I had 169 miles of cycling, yet I finished the year with 1,060 miles. For running, due to injuries, I had only 15.6 miles through June (half a year). I finished the year for running with 162 miles--still low but more than 10 times as much as the previous 6 months. I had done more miles hiking than in along while and I got a lot of hours doing orienteering. However, much of the orienteering was for field checking. All of the field checking, and perhaps slowing down did leave to better accuracy--92%. My weight was up a lot this year but the trend since June has been good. I think the success at reducing weight was helped by being better at getting more sleep. Projects done on my computer are one thing that keep me awake.

slept:6.3 weight:201.3lbs

From Northfield Rd., Custer Rd. to Wilson Ln. to Glenbrook Rd., to Bradley Blvd., to Arlington Rd., to Old Georgetown Rd. to the Huntington Pkwy., to Custer Rd., to Northfield Rd. It was 57 F when I started. I ran in shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt. I started a bit quicker and felt winded. I was about a minute faster than doing this the previous week.

Running (Street & Trail) 32:30 [3] 3.21 mi (10:07 / mi) +42m 9:44 / mi
slept:6.5 weight:200.7lbs

From Northfield Rd., to Georgetown Pike via Greenwich Park, to Beech Ave., through North Bethesda Middle School to Bradmoor Dr., to Folkstone Rd., to Hartsdale Ave., to Heampstead Ave., to McKinley St., to Garfield St., to Roosevelt St., to Jefferson St., to Northfield Rd. It was in the upper 40s F. I felt better starting out than I thought I would. I'd try to pickup the pace now and then by using better form. Mostly it was when running downhill. Towards the end of the run, my left foot started to feel numb again, but it was less than yesterday. Amazingly, this run took the same time to the second, as I had done it the week before. Though it reached 60 F today I came across some black ice at the end of the run and when walking after stretching.

Running (Street & Trail) 24:24 [3] 2.35 mi (10:23 / mi) +41m 9:51 / mi
slept:5.8 weight:201.7lbs

From Northfield Rd., to Custer Rd., to Park Ln. to Battery Ln. to Exeter Rd., to Edgemore Ln. to Glenbrook Rd, to Moorland Ln. to Wilson Blvd., to Aberdeen Rd., to Aberdeen Pl./Garfield St., to Glenwood Rd., to Jefferson St., to Northfield Rd. With it being the dead of winter and the coldest it had been, I was lazy the last 3 days. I kept busy doing stuff and I was comfortable. I also stayed-up too late, and eating all of our holiday desserts. I gained a bit of weight, negating weeks of progress rather quickly. I felt slow running but it was good to do it again. If felt like rebooting my system. My left knee hurt a but after this. During the run, my left foot was numb.
