Note
slept:5.5 weight:190.5lbs

I was somewhat busy but also tired. Threatening rain in the AM and generally being late kept time from cycling.

8 AM

Orienteering long (Course Setup) 2:10:00 [2] *** 3.0 km (43:20 / km)
spiked:18/18c slept:5.0 weight:192lbs

Seneca State Park, MD. From Kingfisher Overlook I set out White/Yellow/Orange controls including one water stop. On the way I discovered a big fence creating a barrier on the way to the first Blue and Beige control. I believe it was some kind of sewage work. It was right along a ride that I'd mapped earlier and right where a White course control was. I later warned all of the Blue course runners that I could about it including our meet director.
11 AM

Orienteering (Foot) 57:01 [2] *** 2.5 km (22:48 / km) +70m 20:00 / km
spiked:11/11c

Seneca State Park, MD. From Blue Jay pavilion I went on a course with Samantha. Anna Campbell accompanied us and it was fun talking to her along the way. She was very encouraging to Samantha to keep her going and Samantha was somewhat more responsive with her than she would have been with me alone. Samantha actually did better than previous outings. She sometimes used the map and usually got the direction to go correct after me orienting the map to north. Samantha was running in between controls but did so too fast; she'd tire and have to stop often.
3 PM

Orienteering (Control Pickup) 45:00 [3] *** 4.0 km (11:15 / km)
spiked:4/4c

Seneca State Park, MD. From RiffleforD are I picked up controls to the west, then came back to east of the road to help Ted. Both of us were converging on a water stop.

Orienteering (Control Pickup) 12:00 [2] *** 0.5 mi (23:59 / mi)
spiked:2/2c

Seneca State Park, MD. From Galesville Dr. I picked up 2 controls that got left out due to some miscommunificatiin.

Orienteering (Course Setting) 6:00:00 [2] *** 16.0 km (22:30 / km)
spiked:31/32c slept:7.0 weight:191.5lbs

Seneca State Park, MD. From Riffleford Rd. I did 3 loops of setting out controls, and ran when I could between them. I also set 4 water stops. The forest was good--enough spring growth to make it more challenging. Water was lower than usual but because of recent rains most of the smaller features still had water. There was additional beaver activity and 2 new mountain biking trails were added. At least one of the disc golf holes had been moved nearer to a Blue course control I found a tick after finishing. The weather improved as I got out. It had been raining and sleeting pretty good. I got partly sunny weather with steady winds and temperatures in the mid 30s F. My back got a little tight. It was fun to be out and I had looked forward to it for a long time. I have more to set tomorrow morning.

Running (Street & Trail Commute) 43:16 [3] 5.0 mi (8:39 / mi)
slept:5.7 weight:192.5lbs

From the Silver Spring Metro Station, to 2nd Ave. to Grace Church Rd., and following the Georgetown Branch Trail over the road portion, (Talbot Ave. Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas Ave. and Stewart Ave.) to the unpaved portion, to Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda, to the Bethesda Metro Station. It was cool out (low 40s F and breezy) so I had on full sweats. I wore gloves and they felt right but perhaps that was too much. My head was sweaty when done. I didn't see any runners until in my old neighborhood approaching Bethesda. A younger woman got on the trail just ahead of me and I paced her going up the last mile on the Georgetown Branch Trail. I almost caught her but near Max's old nursery care school she picked-up the pace and I would have had to work a lot harder to match it. It was only an 8:37 mile. I stretched when I finished.
