Mark Twain School & Park. In the morning, I checked and added to the areas north of Rte 28. It was a nice morning though a little damp. I wanted to see and map things in the daytime that I had drafted from night-time excursions. I saw much more and was able to add point features and verify things. Most of the previous mapping was okay.

QOC at Hemlock Overlook Park, VA. While Peggy did her course, Max and I did the streamer course. I think he was tired to begin with because his nap was short. He got distracted a lot too. I don't think it had anything to do with the bump he got above between the eyes when he fell off the picnic bench onto the next bench. He did like getting stickers for his control card but more than once he'd look at them and then toss away the card. Sometimes he would stop, grab my leg and have me pick him up with the expectation that I would carry him forward. Rather than do that, I'd pick him up and wait until he was ready to get down. Sometimes he'd sprint. He finished the whole distance under his own power but I had to keep him on the course and interested.

QOC at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park, VA. I ran the Blue course. The first control was fine. I was moving well to #2 but managed to overshoot it to the next big spur. Fumbling in the green with very parallel features even down to dot knolls, I lost a bunch of time having to relocate from a field 400m away. I made a wierd error going to #4 and got better after that. Mostly, I ran slowish. It was nice to get out and get some competition practice in. The course was pretty good. See the Split List.
