Orienteering race 1:19:55 [3] **** 5.27 km (15:10 / km)
spiked:8/17c shoes: VJ Falcons #1

Beaver Brook Association, UNO local meet, Red. Pretty pathetic performance. I was having a bit of trouble breathing due to allergies, and that may have reduced the oxygen to my brain a bit, explaining some small portion of my mental lameness. Sloppy early on, not paying enough attention to what I was doing later. Granted, it is pretty technical out there, but some of my mistakes were things where I should just know better.

Note

In addition to the Highlander having gone pretty successfully for me, I am happy to find that it left me essentially unscathed. In particular, I seem to have no blisters, and none of my toenails seem to have taken offense at this mistreatment. Pretty pleasing.

Running in terrain 18:33 [1] 1.64 km (11:19 / km) +67m 9:24 / km

Since I was passing by Talcott Mountain on the way back from having spent the night at Charlie's, and it was a nice morning, I decided to stop and check out the big main trail up to the ridge. This wasn't really running, it was a brisk walk on a pretty wide and smooth trail. Naturally, when I got up to the launch, there was a brisk breeze blowing straight in, and I just smiled, imagining what it would be like if I had brought my hang glider with me...
