Running 40:00 [1] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Jenny's flight home from Kiev was delayed so never made it to the white rose. We went for a jog along Stanage instead to check out some paths for the 'Exterminator.'

Running 45:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Easy with Mike and Rich up Rivelin. Sore gluts.

Running 1:20:00 [3] 18.0 km (4:27 / km)

Long run with Mike, Rich and Nails. Felt pretty rubbish this morning after a few too many beers last night, but for some reason the pace got quite fast straight away. Win Hill, Lose Hill, Jagger's Clough, Win Hill. Nice day for it and Nails and I took a quick dip in the reservoir to cool off at the end. Ate some blackberries.

Running 40:00 [5] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Some hard bursts up the hills, sabre rattling with Nails. Don't know if it really was level 5, but it certainly felt like it.

Running 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

Didn't plan to go running as I was tired this morning and worried about my strange hip problem after last night's hard run. Well I guess it was a kill or cure effort and it hasn't killed it...felt really good today and the sun was shining. I ran quite hard completely by accident.

Running 1:20:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:00 / km)

Decided to go along to Hallamshire and see what was going down. Intervals seemed like a baaad idea so went for a 'steady' run with the John Cox crowd. He bowed out with an ankle tweak after a few kms so me, Rob n' Mike lead out through Wharnecliffe and Beeley at the usual ever-increasing pace. Not so steady then, but a nice run nonetheless.

A little 1.20 run looks rubbish in the graph when it's next to a big 6.40 jog.

Running 1:00:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:27 / km)

Run with Rob and Rich around the back of the ski slope for a bit of a change. Still some bits of rubbish dump but it's definitely getting nicer up there. Would have been a bit shorter if the bridge we were intending to come back on hadn't been washed away in the floods...had to follow a path along the river all the way to the stadium to find a way out. Aware of a strange soreness inside my pelvis. hmmm.

Running 50:00 [2] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)

Easy jog with Rob and Mike up Loxley Valley. Easing off the legs which are still pretty sore. Felt good otherwise though.

Note
(rest day)

Still resting today, although legs are a lot better. Just left with a stiff calf and SI now. Might consider some more exercise soon...spent much of the day trying to follow WOC online, hope the coverage improves for the finals. Nice one to Jen and the rest of the team!

Event: WOC 2007

Running 6:40:00 [1] 16.0 mi (25:00 / mi)

Bob Graham supporting. Thought about sitting around moping all weekend, but decided to head over to the Lakes with Middle to support Chappers and Bill on the BG. Somehow forgot my tent on Friday so slept for a (very few) hours in the car then an early start to meet them at Dunmail Rise. The weather was as bad as it could be in August - no visibility and constant rain - so it was always going to be a tough day out for them, the sort of day when you wouldn't dream of leaving a nice warm coffee shop to head up a peak, let alone 42 of them. Rob and I ran with Bill round leg 3, a long and rocky one that crosses Scafell Pike on the way to Wasdale.

I thought what we were doing was pretty stupid until we met a group of chavs on their way down from that summit dressed only in sodden jeans and hoodies - nuts. All was well until Lord's Rake, where we took a wrong turn before the summit and ended up following a narrowing rocky ledge until it petered out in a sheer cliff disappearing off into the mist. Managed to rectify the situation with some backtracking and scrambling but lost a bit of time there.

Really glad that Bill went on to complete showing remarkable stoicism. I really feel for Chappers, who put everything into it but had to pull out after about 15hrs. Very bad luck but I'm sure he'll go on to do it sometime soon, hope I can support him then!

My legs are now even more screwed.
