Thursday w/Rich
I am attempting to susbstitute running speed sessions with the spinning. Heart rate goes way up (@170-180) and high 130 rpm sprints.

Just feel awkward when I am going 95% all the time, w/puddle of sweat under my bike, gasping for breath, no breaks - and the woman jogging next to me is thinking I am some freak for going at this like its life or death.

Feeling good afterward though - purge of the system.

In Buffalo for the day with Jim/Milt.
Its 0F and windy out and I did not bring enough clothes along for running outside.
Treadmill it is. 9 min/mi pace for 30 min.
Couple knee flinches with pain - but disappeared as quickly.

Started into a feng shui patterning during my shovelling - oh how the family was impressed.

Hike out to the highway in 4-5" on new snow. Dogs, Family and Bundschuhs - beautiful winter day 20F with a bit of wind.
Did some quick sprints - still coughing and didn't want to push it.

Winter Wonderland
3-4" of new fluffy snow. Easy shovelling.
Strained the back throwing the ball to the dog.

Snowmobile Trails
Dublin 101 to Peterborough Transfer Station
Strained my back this morning throwing the ball to the dog (yup). Felt stiff with every step a struggle - took some drugs and off I go.
Loosened up after about 10 min on the trails.
Beautiful out there with about 3-4" of new fluffy snow with ice underneath. Not that slippery though.
Did punch through a couple times with one incident as the edge of the ice cut up my hand with a 2" gash. Blood on the trail.
Knee felt good - no problems at all.

Pack Monadnock Mtn.
Extremely icy and trecherous with a dusting of snow. Dog was wiping out all the time. Studded shoes were great until I lost some of the studs. Ran down the access road to prevent any serious wipeouts. Go long tomorrow.

Run to the beach again. Got stuck in a thunderstorm which was nice with the cold rain in the humid weather.

Ft Lauderdale SGPPL Convention
Run form the hotel to the beach 70F but humid. Hard running on pavement/concrete - beach was not runnable as it was just too soft - felt my achilles being strained.
Staying at the Hilton and we have Steven Spielberg's $200M yacht docked outside my window. The excesses of rich - but what to do with all that money?

Peterborough Dump to Dublin Maple Syrup Shack Snomobile Trail
Pouring rain, 34F. Trails still in good condition - ice pack still solid under a bit of slush - so it was good footing. Couple places where I unexpectedly punched through into mid-calf water.
No one else out in these conditions. Soaked through but had enough effort to not get cold.
Knee felt weak halfway through but then disappeared after awhile. Must be me just being hypersenstive?

Spinning with Rich - endurance no stop with sprints inbetween hills. Felt good. Need to get HR monitor on these efforts to gauge previous years.

Goss Park Snowmobile Trails
Got my new Icespikes and screwed them in. Wow what a great feeling of control and confidence on the icy trails. Really allows you to run rather than hesitate. No snowmobilers - some bare patches and exposed rocks.
About 15F so a little chilly.

Pondered doing the Ski-O but still only 3 weeks after the surgery.

Beautiful day 20F and sunny. Ran the Peterborough snowmobile trails to the south. 46 min to Windy Row and then 42 min back again. Midway 10-15 strides were the knee was not feeling good.
Couple groups of snowmobilers - how can they stand the two stroke oil stench? The sledders behind the leader must be breathing it all day. Yuk!

The New Year surge of people at the club. Spinning room was so full that we created our own micro climate in their - clouds of condensation were being pushed around by the fans. Floors were all wet afterward.
Felt pretty woosy after the last sprint - almost like at altitude. Is it possible the oxygen level drops in a full workout room?

New Year's Day spin - not many people.
Hard workout - had paced myself for a 45min session but was actually 60min - wiped out for the last couple sprints.
