Orienteering race 27:17 [4] ** 3.7 km (7:22 / km) +170m 6:00 / km
ahr:168 max:179 spiked:8/10c shoes: Ancient Asics

Got a new Polar S625X! and was anxious to try it out! at a BAOC Sprint at Anthony Chabot. In the evening.

Forgot all good shoes at home, so rummaged through a Goodwill pile at work. Found a pair, old racing flats, that I thought would work. Ended up sliding on downhills... think that was a major reason Tapio beat me today.

The event was on a black and white 1980 map. Rex Winterbottom, the course setter, gave ample notice of what to expect, so after some initial rough adaptation at Control 2 it went well. Had a compass from Mikkel, but did not use it almost at all.

The length measure is from tracing the route I remember having taken in OCAD, assuming a correct map scale. The climb measure is from the altimeter unit. See also here.

Easy running warm up/down 11:01 [2] 2.01 km (5:29 / km)
shoes: Road Mizuno

A De Anza warmup. The weather cooled off.

Short intervals intervals (Repent!) 39:14 [5] 6.44 km (6:06 / km)
ahr:144 max:169 shoes: Road Mizuno

Kept up with the mindsweeper on the 16×200 pretty well, especially at the end, which was most definitely not a good idea. Tapio kept up with us, too, which also could not have been good.

38.5 38.5 36.5 36.8
37.4 37.7 37.8 36.8
36.7 36.5 36.9 33.7
38.0 36.1 35.2 37.6.

Felt fine, though.

Note

Found the New Nikes. They were in the apartment courtyard; someone must have taken them for no apparent reason.

Note

Discovered today that I had lost the New Nikes. Probly left them at the De Anza track. Oh well.... they were getting old, but not as old as the Old Nikes.

Orienteering race 51:43 [2] ** 7.44 km (6:57 / km) +200m 6:08 / km
ahr:151 max:168 spiked:5/9c shoes: Trail Mizuno

BAOC street-O at Twin Peaks... f the traffic. I mean, I do realize it was the Castro... but that truck was UP MY ASS. Gave up and went home.

Measured the distance with the Gmaps Pedometer.

Easy running 2:06:25 [2] 21.37 km (5:55 / km) +75m 5:49 / km
shoes: Road Mizuno

Baylands; it was warm, I was slow. First, hit the gnats and the mosquitoes at sunset (hope for no more viruses). Then, gathered about a thousand spiders and their webs on the little pond loop. The webs were fresh, so once I got back the spiders' prey was crawling all over me, and I was wrapped in the webs a-la Gulliver.

Running with weights 2:36 [3] 0.6 km (4:20 / km)
shoes: Hip Tigers

Crashed on the lawn at work after missing the last Caltrain... it was fine until the sprinklers turned on. Then, raced to the light rail to not miss any more Caltrains.

Easy running 26:14 [2] 4.3 km (6:06 / km) +108m 5:25 / km
shoes: Trail Mizuno

From home to the event site on Sunday morning.

At 6:10 am, with the mindsweeper, in the apartment complex gym. 40" on, 20" off; half lower body, half otherwise.

Easy running 54:25 [2] 10.1 km (5:23 / km) +29m 5:19 / km

From work, ran to BofA and back, stopping at the Wells Fargo and Fry's.
