This was a pretty upsetting race. For an 83 minute race to come down to ten seconds at the end was disappointing, but in the end props to Victor for a great day. Although I was hoping for the M-20 sweep, he ultimately got me due to a bad route choice on the final leg (14-15) which cost me over a minute and a half. While I didn't get the result I wanted I was still overall quite happy with the race and felt as though I was moving at a consistent and smooth pace with only minor mistakes the whole time. Congrats to Victor and the other juniors for a great weekend.
Not my cleanest race, but enough for another US Champs win. I had lots of issues inside the control circles due to the high density of features, but no major mistakes. Lots of small time loss here and there eventually added up. But overall I’m still happy.
Sprint race at Pierce College (US Champs). Although I didn’t have my cleanest race, it was enough to come away with a US Nationals victory for the sprint distance. Specifically, checkpoint 4-5 I had a stupid mistake that cost me around 30+ seconds simply because I didn’t see the alternate exit from the building. However, ultimately I am still happy with my race and am excited for the middle.
