Adventure Racing race 9:00:00 [3]
This was so much fun. Details to come.
------------------------------------------------------
Ok, so we were team Typhoon, not sure if we lived up to our name, but we did what we could, and we manage to finish and beat a few teams as well!
Started with some easy (and when I say easy I mean it!) orienteering, map was pretty bad, but most was on trails or roads, so who cares. We enjoyed the scenery, took pictures and did site seeing, and took it as easy as one could, and still were ahead of some teams :)
Next unto the canoeing, my weekness. Luckily my team mate, Mike, was able to keep the canoe going in a straight line, so that helped a lot, and I put all the umph I had, but I didn't have much:)) However, we got all the markers (well, one was blown out by the wind, so we didn't per say get it, but we were there..) anyway, rain was coming down pretty good, we were deep in the weeds barely moving, wind blowing from the front, and with all that, it was a blast! loved it, every minute of it!
Ok, so half hour break now, we are like the only team taking their time in the TA, but we had the big biking section ahead, and this was our last recharge time. So, after we're all recharged, we all up and went, 5 minytes in, this huge hill, I mean huge! So, we go slow, and the slowwer and then even slower, we make it to the top, and 10 minutes later, another one!! anyway, this was the hilliest bike ride I ever went on! So, to compensate for our snail speed up the hill, we went crazy down the steep hills, the guys said we were 37miles/hour at some point. man, am I glad we didn't fall!
So, we manage to get to the rapelling part, now that was the best. I bunked my bottom on the top of the cliff, on the zip line section, but the rapelling section was blast. Once I passed that moment on top of the cliff, where you have to start going down and you're asking yourself " what did I do wrong ?? do I really want to go over this cliff???", after that I was "bring it on! this is fun!" One of my friends was slightly afraid of heights, so he was more stressed out, but he made it down ok.
And...I was pretty much dead tired at this time, but still had t bike all the way back, probably another hour or so.... that was hard, but we made it, and a nice warm meal was waiting for us. Those guys that organized this thing were the best! Thank you!
Here' where the story ends, and orienteers say" the whole adventure race, a bunch of BS...", well, it was definetely NOT a challenging O-event, but it was so fun packed, that to me, it can compare to any O-event! There, I said it !
