Skiing (Downhill) 1:20:00 [1]

Wausau

1st time downhill this winter. A bit icy, and a bit cold (a LOT cold!), but fun overall. We even raced down a couple times!

I thought we'd be doing a long run, but that didn't happen. So somehow I have to make up for it...

Running (tread mill) 50:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

BD - Y

I tried to do that attack point challenge, and what came to my mind "hey, let's try 7:30 min/mile. I never done anything even close to this fast before, but this was a good opportunity. So I got warmed up and I set my treadmill to 8m/h (1st time ever) thinking, c'mon it's one mile, anyone can do it! Anyone, but me!! So embarassing! Aftter .5 mile, I was so out of breath, and afraid I won't be able to stop the thing when I'm totally tired, so I stopped it after .5. So, that counts for nothing... Then I tried again, but now I had already the fear of fast stuff, so I could only go to 7.6m/h. Anyhow, my whole workout was messed up, I ran 5 miles with walks of one minuted at every mile.

And now my ankle hurts. Good work, Ioana.

Stretch/Strength (body pump) 1:00:00 [3]

brown deer Y - ok. feeling as bit sore.

Tuesday Feb 24, 2009 #

Note

not sure about this mile at the track. I don;t even know where a track is. But hey, Lapham peak anyone?

Skiing (cross-country) 1:30:00 [2]

Lapham peak - w/ greg

first lap felt like I was back to square 1..or 2. but then it was getting better, and I think I finally got it how to avoid sliding all over the place, by edging more toward the end of the push. My left tip still dragging. I'm thinking to rent next time, so at least I know for sure it's me and not the skis. Greg will have soon to charge me a fee for all that I'm learning. I wish I had a trail more nearby...

Running (tread mill) 22:00 [3] 2.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

some sort of warm-up. then bathroom break

Running (tread mill) 28:20 [3] 3.0 mi (9:27 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

second part of the workout. decided to back down to only 3 miles.

Note
(rest day)

Rest, rest and rest again. I guess I'm pretty rested by now:) But, also healthy and no pains anywhere. And ansty!

Thursday Feb 19, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Resting after yesterday. Ok... unplanned rest day, but as soon as I poked my nose outside I just could not bring myself to run in that super freezing weather. I must be getting wimpier with age :)

train pretend (zumba) 45:00 [0]

very...very low key

Stretch/Strength (body pump) 1:00:00 [3]

This was OK. I'll proly be sore tomorrow from cranking it.

not sure what I was thinking ...cause I have 9 miles planned out for this weekend...

Tuesday Feb 17, 2009 #

Running (tread mill) 51:30 [3] 5.0 mi (10:18 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

Y - Brown Deer

Ran first couple miles in 23 min, then last 3 I was running fast, then walk, and repeat. One scoop I went with 8m/h, which is light speed for me. I'd call this my speed training.

Feeling so nice after my 14 miles this weekend. So thankful. Went to the hot tub too, which was REAL hot. Feeling healthy too... again!

Orienteering (Score-O) 1:15:00 [1]
shoes: Nort face

Afton Park, MN - Score O

Sunny, and a bit cold, not feeling too sore. Ok, I am sore now and I need a break!

This was John's first O, so we ran together and talked routes here and there. The controls we did were pretty easy, which was perfect. The woods were quite nice, wonder how it is in the spring or fall. John did slip on ice once on these stairs and it didn't look pretty. I don't recall falling, except not being able to make it up this icy hill once. Fun event, good work on the MN guys.

Running (Roads) 2:26:08 [3] 14.0 mi (10:26 / mi) +700m 9:02 / mi
shoes: NB 1060

MSP tour - with John

Longest run so far! :) :)

I thought we'd be doing 12 m, then at mile 9 I agreed to do 14 (must have been not thinking too much :) The tour was fun, but last 2 miles my head was abouut to turn in a big ice cube.

Notes:
1) need a better head gear for cold temps
2) need to figure out why the outside of my feet hurt
3) stretch more, along the lines of fast recovery

NEED NEW SHOES! I'm just looking and it seems I put 450 miles on them, wow!

Thursday Feb 12, 2009 #

Running (tread mill) 31:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:20 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

Very nice and slow. per John advice. I thought I was gonna fall asleep.

Wednesday Feb 11, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Got a tiny bug last night running in the cold, but I'm sure it'll go quick.

Is ATTACKPOINT A LOT SLOWER the past few days or is it just me??

Tuesday Feb 10, 2009 #

Running (trail paved) 36:20 [5] 4.05 mi (8:58 / mi) +100m 8:20 / mi
shoes: NB 1060

Up north - solo

I was so mad cause I left work early so I could run outside. My car didn't start so I didn't make it home till almost 5pm. So I left running all mad. However, being mad seems to be making me going quite fast. No clue if I'll ever beat this. I recall last year at the Chicago Blues when after I lost my watch I was so mad that I flew through the sprint course. Anyway, doesn't matter, cause I don't want to create a habit.

First time I ran fast and did not stop my stop watch ... for crossing roads, messning with my shirt..also, there was no flower picking/smelling of any kind!

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Ankle update: today is better, and overall a bit better, but it hurts after each workout.

Crazy thoughts today about doing GB marathon. Only crazy thoughts though so far.

Tomorrow is 55F!! What to do?!?!?!

train pretend (roller blade) 1:00:00 [1] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi)

Up and down - solo

It was just too nice to stay inside.

Not the smartest choice of "cross-training"(roller bladin) as it turns out it uses same muscles as skating skiing. And now I know exactly why my thighs and bottom hurts (I thought I fell or something before). I can see how this can be a good practice, especially if you take long strides.

Saturday Feb 7, 2009 #

Running (trail paved) 2:00:00 [2] 10.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

Up north - with Jeremy - AWESOME temps

Ran on shorts and t-shirt in February. I mean, in WI, this is not gonna happen soon... It was great.

We took it real easy, as this was the easy long run, and I was in relative pain from my prev skiing sessions. Well, Jeremy wwas not really willing to go a lot faster (here, I can totally put the blame on him). We went a bit father then 10m, but battery was dead, so no data. Also, first time I had to stop at the gas station, glad it was there.

Skiing (cross-country) 1:30:00 [2]

Lapham peak - with Greg - awesome temps

There is definite progress. Getting a bit faster and a bit more curageous. therefor more falling. We took the headlamps and did the easier part of the unlit trails over the road. Loved the rollercoaster!

And yes! I finally went on that downhill from the 2 tier down, 1st time after the big spectacular fall with marco and maja, when I thought that was the scariest ever. Not anymore! I loved it!

Skiing (cross-country) 1:30:00 [2]

Lapham peak - with Greg - awesome temps

I think there is progress. I'm definetely faster than first time last week.

I'm still sliding like crazy, so, per Greg advise, I'll try renting some boots next time. Now, I think the fact I just started this, has a bit to do with the fact i look like bambi on ice while skating. specially up hill, ha-ha-ha!! maybe I should be recorded for future years of entertainment to come.

also, the left foot is just lazy picking up that ski, but I'll get it...

I want to go ice skating so bad, cause when I ski I try to do the motions and I can't and then get frustrated. Maybe I'll squeeze it in the weekend somewhere...

Wednesday Feb 4, 2009 #

Running (tread mill) 58:33 [3] 6.0 mi (9:46 / mi)
shoes: NB 1060

Brown Deer Y - tread mill - my favourite - ha-ha-ha

anyway, did the job. felt a bit w/out energy, but oh, well. I better not push it.

tomorrow night - Lapham Peak - anyone else?

Tuesday Feb 3, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Status: HEALTHY! thank God, I'm loving it!

Yesterday was so hard to stay still. one more day of this rest. My quads really need it. and this ankle is just not completely recovering. Ok... wait, did I mention my cold was over?!?!

Monday Feb 2, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

I'm tired.... And my legs are just unhappy. So I'll take it easy for a couple days.

Sunday Feb 1, 2009 #

Running (trail paved) 1:09:06 [4] 7.18 mi (9:37 / mi) +200m 8:51 / mi
shoes: NB 1060

Up north, solo

35F, deep blue clear skies, very little wind. Again, AMAZING weather, for pretty much anything you;d want to be outdoors.

Trail was almost dry, some patches of ice here and there. I went a bit slow on the way up, but then I accelerated on the way down as usual (I think I did the half way down in 30 min, but can't tell John about this or he'll make me run a half marathon in 2 hours). My arch complained a bit on the way down, had to stop a bit. I hope everyone was healthy enough today to get a good workout in this!
