run out, o back

run out to hawse end car park to the start of the 2022 csc heat and did a load of controls on the way back. mostly pretty easy but then did the last bit a bit more race pace purely for a bit of confidence. naving very smoothly and felt super in control and just overall orienteering nicely. think i should try and do more runs like this more often as just good to do a bit of orienteering along with some terrain running. ended up running quite a long way so been a pretty good week of training especially happy my strava graph didn’t do any major dips and stayed straight

orienteering intervals in borrowdale

7 courses. first 1/2 pretty bad just feeling quite demotivated and wasn’t picking great routes as well as kept decking it so just overall bad feels. got quite upset as struggling mentally at the moment with exams and it is all very demanding so think i’m quite fragile so doesn’t take much to set me off. had a good pep talk with dad and had a new focus and reframed my perspective. worked very well as second 1/2 was a LOT better, just moving with a lot more vigour and overall felt significantly better. all down to a mindset switch and managed to turn it around so happy. good to just get more time in terrain with map in hand as well as some good motivation from running with others.

great stuff, big thankyou to ruben for planning. maybe he has now redeemed himself from the high rigg night o when i was crawling on my hands and knees up a vertical slope…

hensingham sprint a

a good race apart from completely skipping out the last control!! penultimate one ‘seemed’ like a last control and i just saw a straight line from it to the finish so just kept running silly me. feels not fab but ok. sometimes i find myself on sprints picking the route that seems the easiest in terms of effort levels (brain and body) so might need to take a look at that. but on the whole good and i love doing sprints and not being crippled by nerves

orienteering race 11:46 [4] 2.34 km (5:01 / km) +28m 4:44 / km
ahr:182 max:193

hensingham sprint b

good nav again. feeling not that good especially up the hills. big focus to get more hill fit as well as being more mentally strong up the hills to keep pushing which is probably the main thing. i was extra careful to get all the controls this time and nice to top up the sprint nav

easy jog along the canal in yorkshire. feels not amazing but decent. some good post-race analysis been done the past few days, need to start doing dedicated analysis more often as very useful

JK relay

2nd leg men’s short with dad and isaac. a very successful run, enjoyed having no pressure or anxiety a lot. nav was really good and felt confident, bit of a funky route on the long leg as exit direction was slightly off but it meant i took the path route which might’ve been better than heather bashing anyway especially for me. happy with my running and felt very smooth, would’ve loved a bit more head to head relay racing as i just enjoy this so much but another time. happy with my run and 6th/42 on my leg but don’t think my teammates had the greatest time out there but oh well
