we visited Mountain Lakes SP in NY, while Ksenia was wetting locations for A-meet and Dai ran first draft of her blue course. I spent 2+ hours on the beach slow roasting myself under summer sun. Great day to be out. Knee is getting better. Loved the venue, may be one of the best local parks. Oh, did I mention this morning's bake off contest at PG residence, when Barb, Dave, Gail and K. treated us with waffles, eggs and hush browns.

5 AM

(corn maze - sprint) 9:00 [2] *** 1.0 km (9:00 / km)
spiked:5/6c shoes: Inov-8 Talon 212 (2013)

Better second time around but, knee is not right, so I was limping a little bit harder this time. Course was easier, considering previous experience.
4 PM

(corn maze - classic) 34:30 [2] ***** 2.0 km (17:15 / km)
spiked:9/18c slept:7.0 weight:159lbs shoes: Inov-8 Talon 212 (2013)

did not plan to do it, but Peter said "Just go and do it", so I just walked - limped it, it took 9 first controls to get that field edge is not oriented to North, and some time to adjust to scale. Map was excellent, so was the spirit of the race. some places in the maze presented above average nav. challenge for an inexperienced corn-mazer. Rout choices were not trivial at all.
9 PM

(corn maze - night-o) 54:00 [2] *** 4.0 km (13:30 / km)
spiked:20/23c (injured) shoes: Inov-8 Talon 212 (2013)

collected 22 controls in order an did not know exactly how much time left, so I bailed with 6+ min. to spare., picking 54 on the way. the knee was complaining after this, but not too bad. Stayed at Peter and Gail's place overnight in nice company.
10 PM

Note

All this was organized and mostly carried by one person, there was also trail-o contest, which I missed due long line in local BBQ place, and being hungry (eat for too long). Neither event caused any disappointment from all who took part in it, organizer or runners. Not a glitch in results processing, and spits were posted live that some spectators all over the world, and especially Laramie, could see results almost live. And did I mention it was done by one man, pretty sharp for his 69+.
Great relief and much contrast with last weekend.

Damage update: knee is healing fast. I can walk up and down stairs, still stiffens out when I sit for long time.
