old town sprint, lots of narrow streets, not too difficult, but visibility is short (narrow and winding), and speed is high. I do not think I picked the best speed for the race, it was scary at times when approaching intersections with town traffic in process, not so great idea by organizers. had to have your ears open all the time. cars moved very slow though. Started clean, speed borderline fast, it was difficult to judge speed since most of orienteers around are much older, peaking at 65. Several times almost ran into someone, squealing like a girl, barely avoiding collision (same happened a day before in quals). on my way to 5, I was reading leg to 6 and ran right by my control, another 30 or so meters, stopped, real confused for 5-10 seconds, realized what just happened, went back - splits show 40 sec lost, then clean and fast again, may be not the best rout 11, max 10 sec., a little slow on my way to 12, picked up speed again, and final approach to 15 saw a wooden fence in my way in the forest, decided to run around, not risking disqualification, that was another 20 sec. even now, with good light and not running, it is not that easy to figure that out if that mapped crossable or not the way it was drafted. Still map was great, course was fun, I enjoyed it all the way, despite some confusion and scary moments.
Finished 57-th 4:40 behind the best time, results are super dense, as expected, more then a minute of lost time is huge for the modern competitive sprint.
