Orienteering 13:15 [5] 1.45 mi (9:08 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 3 (Navy/Oran

Sprint-o at Tyler State Park - course 1

Took me about 2 controls to get a handle on the mapping, specifically the symbols and features. Once I got moving, I was comfortable with what was and wasn't mapped, specifically a bunch of trails around the disc golf course. Felt really good, no real errors (other than being slow to 1 and 2) except for a bad turn at 4. Ran hard, got real tired by the end. Super sweaty.

Course 2

Ooof. Did not wait long enough between courses, and all of the top end speed that I had during the first course was used up by the 2nd control, which is where I struggled the most, making a ~90 second error in the maze of unmapped trails. The heat and humidity were full-on by the time I finished - it was painful.

A fun time, and I was pretty pleased with how I navved and how I ran considering all factors.

Hike/Trekking 1:48:58 [2] 7.13 mi (15:17 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Speedgoat 4 (blue/yellow)

Humid walk around all the roads near home with Evan in the stroller. Logging these to track miles on the shoes better and also because I was dripping in sweat.

Road Bike 1:17:23 [2] 17.19 mi (4:30 / mi)

Ride to pick up the Volvo. It was incredibly hot (~93 when I started), but I managed it extremely well. Long sleeve sun shirt, copious amounts of sunscreen, extra hydration, and not pushing too hard. Really happy with how I felt in the heat - seems like my body is turning a corner. Flatted 2/3 of the way through - quick change that held just fine.

Orienteering 14:32 [5] 1.61 mi (9:02 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 3 (Navy/Oran

Sprint-o at Springton Manor. Still hot (but not as much as earlier), and my hydration from after my bike ride home was sitting in my stomach like a brick, which began slowing me down after ~8 minutes. Course was on a small section of map, but was fun and quick. No errors that I can think of.
7 PM

Orienteering 11:16 [5] 1.37 mi (8:13 / mi)

Holy Thunderstorm!! Went from overcast to dripping to raining to lightning to thunder to pouring to sideways rain to getting pushed backwards by wind to branches blowing off trees and protecting my face from the rain with my map. I think I was the only person "smart" enough to be finishing the course during the storm, but I had gotten to a point of no return where finishing made the most sense. The storm seems to have made me run faster too! Loads of fun and very memorable.

ETA - After the results finally arrived (there were computer issues at the event) I realize that I was the victim of my first ever MP - I somehow didn't punch number 3. I know that it was right at the time that I saw the biggest lightning strike in the distance, so I'm going to blame that. I have a strong memory of seeing the flag, checking the code, and moving on past it, but my GPS didn't ping there, so I must be making things up? It was tricky as 1-4 were in a small area, and 3 was directly between 2 and 4. Oh well. Time to start another life-long streak.

Road Bike 1:05:18 [3] 17.99 mi (3:38 / mi)

Taking more opportunities to travel on the bike, so I rode to camp and met Rebekah and the boys there. Temps were pleasant for late morning. Beautiful ride with plenty of semi-familiar ups and downs.
