Big day with my friend Ethan from college. Haven't seen him since his wedding in ~4 years, but he's been getting into hiking, then backpacking, then running. This was what had been planned for Tuesday; happy that we could reschedule for today. Started off at 30 degrees in the dark at the Hamburg Reservoir. Way too many layers and I struggled to acclimate to the weather for nearly 2 hours. Finally settled on long sleeves, shorts, and gloves which was perfect in the mid- to high-40s weather. The views were stunning today. So happy to be out there and doing it with a good friend. Ended up being the perfect activity.

The route was identical to what I did there in June 2018. AT to Pulpit, Pinnacle, then up to the Port Clinton Fire Tower, down and up through Rattling Run and back down the AT through Minnehaha Springs.

This, combined with a fun afternoon outside with Noah, made for the best day I've had in ages.

Simple jog to keep the legs loose. Feeling rather good after yesterday's effort.

I had prepared for a long, long trek/run with a college friend, but I woke up to a text saying that he had food poisoning...I adapted with a long run at Cheslen in the cool mist. This was supposed to be the elusive perimeter run, but a closed section of trail actually made it a good bit longer. My goal was to finish with a sub-9:00 pace and also have legs at the end. I very intentionally used my gps watch to help keep myself under control at the beginning and also speed up as needed on the flat sections in the middle. Extremely happy with this effort.

Absolutely perfect weather for a fall ride. Cool enough for a long sleeve shirt and perfect leaves everywhere. The West Branch Brandywine Creek has some gorgeous sections and some wonderful (and infrequently traveled) roads south of Coatesville. Felt great for most of it, but this pace and my tired legs would have preferred about 20 minutes shorter.
