9 AM

Road Bike 1:02:08 [1] 6.04 mi (10:17 / mi)

Family ride on the Struble Trail. Nice morning, Noah's best riding thus far.

Road Bike 1:52:11 [3] 30.31 mi (3:42 / mi)

Spent the weekend at Innabah with Rebekah and Noah. No workouts, but a ton of active time.

This morning's ride was not too hot, but humid!! Took it easy at points, but still had some fast efforts that felt good. Beautiful out - I really enjoyed the ride.

Side note: I enjoyed the emptier roads during the lockdown, but after today's blowbys, I might be close to returning to trails.

Run 1:05:05 [5] 6.0 mi (10:51 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (yellow)

Incredibly humid run at Harmony Hill, completely soaked and dripping.

Tuesday Jul 21, 2020 #

9 AM

Road Bike 1:17:52 [4] 20.43 mi (3:49 / mi)

Dropped my car off and took a nice, circuitous ride home. Hot and humid, but MUCH less so than the last two days.

Mountain Bike 1:52:29 [3] 19.36 mi (5:49 / mi)

Front suspension is finally fixed on the MTB! We are down to one car this week, so I rode over to Harmony Hill - it was hot. My legs responded as well I could have hoped in the humidity, but I seemed to have lost my technical ability to ride trails; maybe just a bad day...

3 PM

Road Bike 1:51:57 [1] 9.31 mi (12:01 / mi)

Family ride on the CVT. Noah was extremely excited to go further than his last ride. He got tired again, but was motivated by snacks and conversation.

Run (Trail run) 49:28 [5] 3.72 mi (13:18 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (yellow)

Hard hill at Harmony Hill. Humidity was bad, but the lowlight was the sharp pain in both knees and both sides of my lower back every step on flat or downhill. Hoping some stretching will ease that.

Road Bike 2:00:13 [4] 31.39 mi (3:50 / mi)

Ride from home down through West Chester, along 842, and back up through Downingtown and Whitford. I think I'm adjusting to the humidity finally, but still tired!

Run 1:24:13 [4] 7.3 mi (11:32 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (yellow)

Run at Marsh Creek - got my butt whooped by the humidity again, but not as bad as yesterday. Took a bottle with me, and purposefully ran slower...

Though I'm not sure as slow as the Garmin thought. My GPS track shows me in the water and all over the place. It had trouble connecting to satellites at the beginning, and had my pace noticeably slower in the woods as compared to the more open areas.

Road Bike 1:30:40 [1] 7.43 mi (12:12 / mi)

Noah was so excited for this ride on the CVT. It is flat and straight. We agreed to ride 5 miles, but halfway through he decided on 6, and when we hit the turnaround he decided to ride to the next road crossing. Periodic snacks and drinks helped him a ton, as did the encouragement that he got from all of the passerby. So much fun!
4 PM

Run (Trail run) 53:20 [5] 4.67 mi (11:25 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (yellow)

First run in ages, and the humidity destroyed me. So much pain. The shoes are almost fully toasted too...

Hike/Trekking 1:47:22 [1] 3.1 mi (34:38 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (yellow)

Noah was very excited to return to Newlin Grist Mill. He was less excited to walk, but got the job done. Saw Kevin and Titus in the parking lot, so we chatted with them for a bit at the end.
12 PM

Road Bike 30:24 [4] 8.35 mi (3:38 / mi)

Been itching to try to bikeraft the full East Branch Brandywine, but figured that the water would be too low for the rest of the summer. Yesterday's rainfall changed that, but it had actually fallen out of "acceptable" running range. Still, I figured that now would be better than any time for a while. So I loaded up the boat and rode out as directly as possible to the southwest corner of Marsh Creek.
1 PM

Packraft 2:30:42 [2] 8.99 mi (16:46 / mi)

TA to packraft and set onto the water with the bike. Water was a bit shallow in the creek in some places, but not much more so than when I paddled it last month. I think I did a poor job tightening the valve on the raft, because it was a tad bit soft until I retightened and refilled. I only made it to Ingram's Mill before I pulled out. Water was getting deeper, and I was moving well, but I needed to get home and I was nearly out of water.
4 PM

Road Bike 27:35 [4] 5.22 mi (5:17 / mi)

Packed up and pedaled home. Fully exhausted, so thankfully it was a short ride.

An awesome trip! In order to make the fun run that I'm envisioning, I'll probably need a 6hr window of time int the future. And more water (for drinking and the boat).

Road Bike 1:23:46 [4] 20.56 mi (4:04 / mi)

First ride in weeks. Hot and humid, and I felt it. Also, I never fixed my broken spoke...

Hike/Trekking 1:18:02 [1] 2.21 mi (35:18 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (yellow)

Family stroll around Newlin Grist Mill. Noah is really into old buildings and the like now, so he was super happy to be there and wants to go back!
