Soccer 30:00 [5]

Last soccer game of the season. Team did not play well, but I was not bad.

Mountain Bike 1:49:04 [3] 14.31 mi (7:37 / mi)

Humid ride at Harmony Hill. Not as hot as the last week, but the thick air made up for it. A bunch of yard work yesterday had me feeling achy and sore all over, but I was surprisingly strong on the ride.

Run (Trail Run) 48:22 [3] 5.02 mi (9:38 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Morning run at Harmony Hill and Paradise Farms. Humidity was not that bad yet, and the temps in the low 70s were about as good as can be expected for the summer. Focused on running a high pace, felt excellent for the entire run.

Road Bike 1:27:20 [3] 23.0 mi (3:48 / mi)

Ride from home to Norristown State Hospital for DVOA event. Not too hot out; I felt rather well as a result and got there at a nice pace. Strava app added some extra distance.
6 PM

Orienteering 14:53 [5] 1.96 mi (7:36 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Sprint 1. Some interesting choices to get around the buildings. I think I took the long route to 5 and then headed out of 10 towards the wrong building. Felt pretty strong throughout, but my legs didn't have the proper top end after the bike ride, and the results seem to show that.

Orienteering 13:45 [5] 1.93 mi (7:07 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Sprint 2. I preferred this sprint, as the choices were a bit tougher to make. 4 to 5 might have been the less ideal choice, but I was pleased with the rest. My legs felt a bit better in this sprint, and the results show a slight improvement.
7 PM

Road Bike 1:33:55 [3] 23.0 mi (4:05 / mi)

The ride home. I felt rather well again, more tired than anything else. My legs felt strong and I had a good push whenever I wanted it. Left a bit later than I should have, and it was getting dangerously dark as I approached home.

Road Bike 1:13:22 [3] 21.23 mi (3:27 / mi)

Another ride from camp. Expecting a rainy day, but it was actually quite nice. A little longer than expected due to a road closure re: huge tree in the way. Beautiful roads with very little traffic on most.

Road Bike 52:50 [4] 13.47 mi (3:55 / mi)

Road ride from camp. Super hot, and I haven't felt the greatest, so I took it easy. Still, it was rather tough.

Mountain Bike 2:37:11 [3] 18.0 mi (8:44 / mi)

I took the McIntyres to the airport at 3:30, so I took the opportunity to ride afterward. Unbelievably hot and humid for this early in the morning - I was drenched within 20 minutes, and I was still using lights. Harmony Hill wasn't too bad, but the Sawmill Rd. trails were pretty rough from the rain, and the humidity made everything slick. Slow moving throughout. Ran the phone and the watch, but both had trouble today.

Run (Trail Run) 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Super humid run at Marsh Creek. Foggy too, so the watch never connected to the satellites. Tried to find some side trails, but ended up doing some nasty bushwhacking at times. Among the nastiest, wettest that I've felt after a run.

Bike-Trainer 43:00 [4]

Busy this week, but a little time this evening for a ride on the trainer.

Soccer 40:00 [5]

Another soccer game. We won, I played my best game yet. No injuries or soreness.

Run (Trail Run) 1:04:08 [3] 5.81 mi (11:02 / mi)

Super humid and hot run at Harmony Hill. Nothing at all remarkable outside of that.

Road Bike - with trailer 1:52:49 [3] 26.82 mi (4:12 / mi)

Super exhausting ride with Noah. I though that my legs were recovered from Wednesday, but not so. A run would have been better.

Weights/Stretching 29:00 [0]

Yoga with Rebekah.

Road Bike 1:15:00 [4] 21.0 mi (3:34 / mi)

I had a brilliant plan to bike to a number of DVOA sprint events this summer, but things kept coming up and stopping that. Despite getting back from vacation at noon, I thought it a smart idea to bike to the Schuylkill Center. The heat was hot, so I drove to Berwyn and then biked the 20 miles there. The heat was even hotter on the ride. The approach from the SRT was confusing, and involved a ridiculous hill. Still, made it in one piece. Talked to abiperk before I started for a bit.

Strava struggled to find the satellites, so the beginning of the ride is a bit wonky.
6 PM

Orienteering 19:57 [5] 1.92 mi (10:23 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Super exhausted, so I just took it easier on the first. Very smooth, with no errors of more than 5 seconds. It does look like my route choice from 5 to 6 was suboptimal.
7 PM

Orienteering 20:39 [5] 1.98 mi (10:26 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

I took a long break to recover, talking with broots for a bit. This course was much more fun, one of my favorites of the summer. Lots of route choice along with the occasional punishment for not looking closely enough at the map. I liked my route choice for all, and only made a tiny mistake approaching 14. I felt really good throughout, running and finishing stronger than any point during the first one.

Road Bike 1:29:54 [5] 20.06 mi (4:29 / mi)

The ride back home. One for the annals - this was the sufferiest of all rides. I struggled to spin the pedals in the easiest gear at times, and have no idea how I made it home in one piece. More food if I plan on this happening again.

Hike/Trekking 3:00:00 [1] 5.0 mi (36:00 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Lots of family trekking around Acadia, specifically from sand beach back to Blackwoods campground. Noah did great and loved climbing on the rocks.
4 PM

Mountain Bike (With trailer) 1:30:00 [2] 13.0 mi (6:55 / mi)

Carriage roads with Rebekah and Noah. Much more elevation than expected. Wanted to do more but unfortunately we ran out of time.
6 PM

Hike/Trekking 1:40:00 [1] 3.0 mi (33:20 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Hike around the Jordan Pond after dinner. Rebekah carried Noah for the last two thirds. Beautiful evening.

9 AM

Run (Trail Run) 1:07:54 [3] 7.01 mi (9:41 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Last run from Craig's before heading up to Acadia. Through the woods, across the Greenbelt to Fort Williams, then back through Robinson's Woods on the return trip. Beautiful morning!

Friday Jul 5, 2019 #

6 AM

Mountain Bike 1:57:17 [3] 15.82 mi (7:25 / mi)

Craig took me on a tour of Cape. Some sweet trails at Winnick, a decent spin around the dump, Robinson's Woods II and I, and a few twists and turns in the woods at the end of the street. My back tire had less than 10 psi, but I managed to make the ride work. Lots of fun.
4 PM

Road Bike - with trailer 1:19:01 [2] 14.04 mi (5:38 / mi)

Actually MTB with trailer. Rode with Rebekah and pulled Noah on the East Coast Greenway from Scarborough to Saco and back.

10 AM

Run (Trail Run) 1:10:54 [3] 6.94 mi (10:13 / mi)
shoes: Topo Terraventure 2 (red)

Run on trails through Cape Elizabeth. I was a bit tired from the drive yesterday, and the trails were pretty technical, which made for slow moving. A beautiful morning, but the humidity is coming fast!

9 AM

Road Bike 1:06:18 [4] 15.49 mi (4:17 / mi)

Leaving for vacation tomorrow, a short ride from home was all that I had time for. Don't remember this route being so hilly though.

Monday Jul 1, 2019 #

3 PM

Mountain Bike 1:24:21 [3] 11.02 mi (7:39 / mi)

Met up with Jeremy Adams to ride at Harmony Hill. I'd done some work on my bike since MSAR, and it seemed to hold up really well. Lots of fun on this ride. Kinda warm, so I didn't push it too hard. Hit most of the highlights.
8 PM

Soccer 40:00 [5]

Not as successful as the first game, but I think I'll feel better in the aftermath than last time.
