Point-by-point on yesterday's scale of five:
#1: 4/5. No mistakes, but I hesitated at the wall of vegetation right before the control. Cost ~3 seconds.
#2: 3/5. More hesitation in the middle of the leg because I was in a featureless area, but I got back in touch with the map and found the control without difficulty. Cost ~15 seconds.
#3: 5/5. Used a compass bearing to go directly to this control.
#4: 4.5/5. Another compass bearing, found myself a little east of the control. Cost ~5 seconds.
#5: 3/5. Compass bearing took me west of the control, had to relocate and swing back for it, but I was only ~20m away. Cost ~30 seconds.
#6: 5/5. Hopped onto a trail for 1/2 of the leg, then took a bearing to the control.
#7: 4/5. I could have chosen a more direct route, but the one I ran took me right to it without confusion.
#8: 3/5. Was out of touch with the map for a few seconds, but otherwise my route was very clean and effective. Cost ~5 seconds.
#9: 5/5. Bearing and checking off map features got me right to it.
#10: 4/5. There was a moment of confusion at an unexpected trail intersection, but otherwise all went well. Cost ~5 seconds.
#11: 5/5. Compass bearing took me right to it.
#12: 5/5. Bearing landed me a few meters east of the control.
#13: 1/5. Used compass bearing, but left compass bearing because I was distracted by Ellen. Found a wrong flag about 100 m SW of the control , relocated, found another wrong flag about 20 m NW of the control, relocated again, found the control. Cost ~2 minutes.
#14: 4/5. Rough compass and rough map reading was sufficient for the short distance.
#15: 4/5. Short distance, no navigational mistakes, but I was hesitant to break into the clearing full of spectators.
