Warm-up run before MoboGoGlobo. My legs felt fairly good.

I continued my streak of global, mobile domination, running MoboGoGlobo! with Robert Buraczynski as my navigator-by-phone. As I expected would be the case, we had some errors, but in each case, we recovered quickly, and we beat out the second place team of Andrew Dalgleish (navigator, Scotland) and Alex Frank (runner, Poulsbo) by 4:47.
This was the hardest mobile orienteering course I have ever participated in (as either runner or navigator), and by a significant margin. It was fun to have such a challenging course and to have the opportunity to relocate over the phone.
Robert did a good job of accurately directing me, but with the densely-featured 1:5000 map, I sometimes outran his instructions. After the race, I learned by talking to other runners that this was a common problem.
Robert and I did a post-run course review, where I identified a few opportunities for greater simplification on a few of the longer legs. I realized while looking at the map how hard a job the navigators had, with several moderately complex and route-choicey legs.
This was great fun, again, and I'm looking forward to the next mobile O event.

I set and picked up controls for a day-long orienteering workshop for Eton School. It was fun to do some teaching again and to share orienteering with some enthusiastic novices, and the students, teachers, and parents seemed to really enjoy it, too.
