Running - Trail / Grass (trail, with backpack) 1:30:49 [2] 8.35 mi (10:53 / mi) +260m 9:55 / mi
ahr:138 max:155 slept:2.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8 - 2

I ran to pick up course markings after the NWTR event. I ran more briskly than I had the night before, and my ankle continued to feel completely fine, until I had a minor turn inward after about 6 miles, at which point it hurt just a bit, not significantly different than it would hurt if I turned an uninjured ankle. Still, I was a bit nervous about it, and I redoubled my effort to concentrate on my foot placement. I twinged a tendon/ligament near my heel at around mile 7.5, and I decided to call it quits a bit after 8 miles, because my legs were already very tired, and I didn't want to risk another injury due to running while my muscles weren't strong enough to protect my injury area.

The logged time includes several minutes of stops to remove course markings, so maybe the running time was around 1:20.

Walking (trail, with backpack) 30:51 [1] 1.8 mi (17:08 / mi) +40m 16:02 / mi
ahr:106 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8 - 2

Fairly brisk walking from mile 8.25 to the finish.

Walking 8:00 [1] 0.55 mi (14:33 / mi) +35m 12:09 / mi
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8 - 3

I walked briskly to the Norheims' for dinner.

My calf muscles are quite sore from the calf raises/drops on the stairs. It's a bit dismaying to see how deconditioned I've become.

Running - Trail / Grass (trail, with backpack) 2:15:00 intensity: (1:25:00 @1) + (50:00 @2) * 10.0 mi (13:30 / mi) +300m 12:21 / mi
ahr:120 max:150 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8 - 2

I ran at an easy shuffle to mark the course for the third NWTR event of the year to be held at Soaring Eagle Park. I stopped my watch during longer stops, but I also took many shorter stops (or longer stops during which I forgot to stop my watch) that were included in the 4:10 elapsed time on my watch. The actual logged time is an estimate. Since there were so many fallen, large, big leaf maple tree limbs to remove from the trail, I was out for almost 7 hours--about 2.5-3 hours longer than usual--and it rained for most of that time.

My ankle tolerated the light exercise very well, with no pain that I noticed.

Strength / Weights (body weight exercises) 13:00 [1]
slept:5.0

8 minutes of PT ankle and lower leg exercises (including balancing on one foot while leaning forward, which worked my back), and 5 minutes of ab. work.

Strength / Weights (body weight exercises) 6:00 [1]
slept:9.3

I did some physical therapy exercises for my left ankle: calf raises, and few hops, and balancing on one foot (at a time).

Note
slept:7.8 (rest day)

I went to see my doctor today about my left ankle-area injury. The Rx is rest (done), Naproxin/ice, and physical therapy, so that--as my doctor said--I can return to my "above normal" use of the joint.
