Rest day -- unpacking and catching up on work & sleep (got home from the airport around 11pm last night and then worked for a few hours on something I was supposed to finish on Friday...).

"2018" Masters Nationals -- Day 2 of 2.

Again today, I felt like most of my navigation was sound, with some dumb mistakes:

* Going into #2, I knew I didn't have an attackpoint -- I even said that to myself several times, but I just kept plowing ahead until I found myself wandering around on the ridge. I eventually relocated off of a pit.

* Inefficient leaving #5 (not sure why I went so high into the woods).

* Off-kilter near #10.

Today's map seemed less steep and more open, and I enjoyed the course -- maybe my favorite of the three days.

I ended up 4th out of six in F45. Oh well.

"2018" Masters Nationals -- Day 1 of 2.

I think my navigation was generally OK, but with some time-wasting mistakes:

* I was a bit too high going into #1. I wasted some time trying to figure it out, and then I was slow getting down the steep slope.

* On the way to #5, I got slightly off my bearing and followed the wrong ridge down. Figured it out when I hit the cliff.

* Inefficient curvy route to #10.

* And then...I had a massive blunder on the GO control (#16). I still have no idea how I got so lost. That cost me one spot in the final results.

Beautiful scenery and a fun course, even though it was steep.

Orienteering race 1:02:44 [3] 3.39 mi (18:30 / mi) +317ft 17:00 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2017-Navy)

I had a leisurely morning of brunch and grocery shopping, then I got on the road to Camp McKee.

For #1 and #2, I relied on trails. But that felt like a crutch, so I decided to go cross-country to #3. BAD IDEA -- it got really steep there, with slippery mud underneath all the leaves; I think I was slightly off the edge of the map; and the brush was thick. Ugh. I went back to using trails whenever possible for the rest of the course. :-P

Avocado toast and eggs at "First Watch" near CVG. I think it's a chain, but it was DELICIOUS.

Brunch at First Watch near CVG, 3/22/2019.

LoCO FIT workout at Davidson Mesa.

- Ran one mile to warm up.

- Mile repeats x 4. Our assignment was to have a consistent or slightly increasing pace for each mile, around 5K race pace, with walking recovery (0.1 mile back around to the trailhead).

I think I ate my spicy lunch too late in the day -- I really wanted to stop after the second mile. And then I really, REALLY wanted to stop after the third one. But I forced myself to start the fourth one before I could talk myself out of it -- yay.

8:16, 8:16, 8:15, 8:22.

- Ran one mile around Harper Lake to cool down.
