Today I found some flow after really not having some flow on the previous control. Fluffed the control over the hill, just had no idea where I was at all until I hit my attack point after two rounds of checking out ponds that might have been it before hand. When I actually got there it was very obvious. The next leg was a tricky slope crosser though and I nailed it - not super smooth, but something was there.

Rob did his first TD5 course today and beat many of the experts despite rescuing a lady and checking out three parallel marshes for a bit. He has a really impressive feel for the map!

The heat went down and Rob joined me for a weekend in Pawtuckaway. It was wonderful to be in the woods, and fun to realise just how much orienteering I need to relearn the bits that make orienteering a sport of flow and fun. No major errors but a lot of start stopping, and found the running tough in places. But again, just so good to be out and about. We think Rob won the yellow and thus he promoted himself for Sunday.

Afterwards we visited Portsmouth which is like a mini Portland, before having dinner with Rachael and Alex and the boys. A lovely day, only marred by a few too many mosquito bites!

Note

The heatwave this week ha been utterly draining. I've tried all manners of ways to get to work and not arrive a sweaty, exhausted mess, but none of them worked - surprise buses without AC and red line cars without any air.

The heat has broken now but today I am utterly dead.

I wish it was safe to cycle around here.
