Treadmill 40:03 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)
Woke up on Monday with a sore lower back (no idea why, ran Harriman on Sunday with no problems) which progressively got worse through Thursday, then improved such that I decided to run the Blue Hills Traverse today. Drove off at 7am and made it close to Hartford before I at long last came to my senses - between lots of snow on the ground from Thursday's rather dramatic dumping (between 1 and 3 inches still left in the woods in many places), a very wet forest in general, and my barely recovered back, I decided it would be neither especially fun nor very safe for me to run 16-17k.
Ran on the treadmill, 8k as "punishment" but just decided I should alternate between long distance (8-10k) and short distance (3-5k) and intervals (rowing etc) going forward. A little bit of incline on the treadmill wouldn't hurt either.
This season was poor for orienteering, I missed a lot of key events and didn't train nearly enough. Now that the downstairs gym will ready by Xmas, a whole new regimen will ensue...
