Stockville Adventure Race - ran with Ed, Jake and Collin with like a 25-30 lb pack. Definitely one of the hardest things I've done, but we finished 4th overall, 3rd among the cadet teams.
Day 1) Started with a shotgunned redbull and did decently. We made some uninformed route choices by deciding to take the high/low roads when we should have taken the low/high roads, but we finished just as it was getting dark with one extra point. Had chili that night and slept a ton.
Day 2) Started early at 0630ish and decided to hit up both of the optional points. Pretty uneventful because a big part of the course was on this huge road. It got real on the third(last) map when we realized the scale went from 1:30000 to 1:40000. Point P took a little while, but we got crushed on Q because we were too high. That incline was the worst. With roughly 90 minutes till time was up, we faced a 2km road march, a huge steep climb, and then a blue-level point in a draw and another 2km road march to the finish. I was about to give up when Ed decided to turn off the road and we climbed up directly under the point. At this point we had 45 minutes to find the last point and get out, so we Lone Survivor-style threw ourselves off the cliffs and slid down the hillside. We found a draw, got to the right altitude and cut right for a couple draws - finally found the point with Sam Evan's group with 15 minutes left. So we sprinted the last 2-2.5 km trail back to the camp and ended with 5 minutes left. Felt awful, but it was fun.
