WIth each score-O event, I have scored less and run slower per kilometre. I wish there was a way to figure out if I am getting dummer and/or slower.
During past events on this map, I spiralled around the start getting all the close controls before running away. It was time to try leaving some close controls for the return trip. This strategy seemed confirmed by the queues at my first three controls so I just ran off to avoid any more frustrating line ups. However, the two controls before I finished gave me the most trouble. I suppose after racing an hour in 31 humidex, my brain gave out. I tried getting #3 and #2 while in the woods. Of course I would have done much better shooting off the trail. Doh!
Finding the ?correct? pit for #5 was a challenge. I incorrectly thought #21 would line up with the school building. The temptation to trespass after #19 was incredible. Control #16 would have been a much faster leg w/o a match in progress.
From #17 I did NOT plan to go for #18. I knew that part of the map was tough. Besides, I needed to head home by #6. However, I came out of the woods from #17 farther along the trail heading for #18 so what the heck. I thought I was being rewarded for trying when I got within 50m and latched on to Robbie. I never got #18, thus the nasty time penalty. This was a 55 minute event.
