SART Stage 4: University of Washington 1.

The course went through campus, so lots of buildings, stairs, and passageways. I started strong and in front but then lost time on control 5, then slowly worked my way back up to the first two. With about five controls to go we were running as a pack, took the second to last control all together, then the other two started their kick leading into the last control. I held on as we rounded the last control, then started my kick in the 150m to the finish and picked them both off for the win by about 5 seconds. Felt realyl good to have that left in the tank.

Orienteering race 35:23 intensity: (48 @1) + (1:54 @2) + (4:02 @3) + (20:32 @4) + (8:07 @5) **** 3.83 km (9:14 / km) +41m 8:46 / km

SART Stage 5: University of Washington 2.

Butterfly loops for this one. Lots of tough choices, I think there were only two that I made seriously questionable choices on. I was second, behind by about 10 seconds to the winner, and was well clear of the rest of the group.

Overall a great experience, though I felt awful for the first two stages which meant I was basically fighting for 61st. I ended up 62nd (I think).

SART Stage 3: Seattle Pacific University.

Won the heat! Our heat stayed together for the first couple controls, but then I broke off for a different route choice and jumped ahead and never looked back. I jumped up enough that the rest of the pack couldn't follow. Nice way to finish the day.

Orienteering race 28:55 intensity: (1:15 @1) + (5:55 @2) + (2:03 @3) + (3:47 @4) + (15:55 @5) *** 3.08 km (9:24 / km) +47m 8:44 / km

SART Stage 2: Carkeek Park.

I felt awful, I had cramps and a stitch in my side the whole time, finished last in my heat again. It was the most physically demanding stage, even though it was in a park we weren't allowed off trail. I was glad to get it done with.

Orienteering race 29:57 intensity: (59 @1) + (20 @2) + (6:59 @3) + (16:43 @4) + (4:56 @5) *** 2.97 km (10:05 / km) +133m 8:14 / km

SART Stage 1: Woodland Park.

This is the point where I started feeling the 3am wakeup and 3 hours of driving to get to the event. Finished last in my heat of five. Had a big miss when I didn't see a passageway between sets of tennis courts that cost me at least half a minute.
4 PM

Orienteering race 32:48 intensity: (21 @1) + (1:44 @2) + (4:36 @3) + (10:45 @4) + (15:22 @5) ** 3.47 km (9:27 / km) +60m 8:42 / km

SART TT.

Mispunch! Completely missed a control. I ended up in a pack of four of us for most of it though. My time would have seeded me around 41st of 80.
