Orienteering race 1:02:12 [4] *** 5.8 mi (10:43 / mi) +232m 9:32 / mi
ahr:147 max:182 spiked:15/16c shoes: VJ Falcon Blue

Very nice day. This area is just too steep and hilly to have a fast and fun run. Still fun orienteering, but always a bit of a slog going up the hills. Had one poor route choice (3-4) and bobbled one control pretty badly (10), but generally it was a very clean run. Of course it helps to have been to all the control locations once or twice before - the National Park guys insist that we use the same control locations that we used two years ago so they don't have to decide whether the locations are acceptable to them or not. So Geoff has to just create new courses/routes using the same control ppoints as before.

Don Carter State Park. Walk about to check out the map updates, see possible Start locations, see some areas I've never been too and generally get a better feel for course setting. Beautiful day, sunny and just warm enough to not even be chilly while walking. Talked to a ranger who confirmed that they woill have a burn a soon as conditions are right. About 17 acres on the north part of the map. That may makes things real interesting for course setting and running later on!

Note

A nice day, temp about 45, thought it would be colder. But sunny with very little wind - although it sure felt like I was riding into the wind all the time. Legs felt sluggish. Guess I didn't fully recover from the run on Monday. Managed a reasonable time none the less.

Good yoga workout. The stretching was very beneficial after yesterday's run.

Running trails at the river. It was chilly, but not bad while running. Except it started raining about the same time I started running. So after about 30 min, being very wet made it a bit chillier. Fortunately it didn't rain hard until the last 15 min. But physically I felt pretty good running. Kept a good pace and kept moving the whole way with just two or three 1 min breaks.
