Orienteering (Sprint) 12:37 [5] 2.2 mi (5:44 / mi)
spiked:11/11c

ROC Webster Park NightO and Sprint - this turned out to be a very open course with only one major course decision (from what I could see) and a lot of little ones - so concentration levels had to be high. Also, add in a couple controls from the White course to make one look twice. Anyway, I thought my run was good and navigating pretty clean - but I couldn't manage to stay close to the speedsters - Gil and Nate. BTW - I took a more direct line over the hill to 7 rather than stay low along the creek.

Orienteering (Night O) 1:00:30 [4] *** 5.5 km (11:00 / km)
spiked:15/19c

ROC Webster Night O - I thought course layout obviated a counter-clockwise loop and so did several others. It was a parade with me, Mike, Nate, and Pavel through the first 10 controls with a bunch of lead changes. The four of us flailed through the vegetation from 120 to 121 then all stood on the same knoll wondering where the misplaced control was (122). From there, our courses started to diverge a bit but we were never too far apart. I thought Mike and Nate picked up an extra one in the last 20 minutes that I didn't get, so after I saw Mike head back to the lodge I thought I need to pick one more up. So I went after 103 (which I saw during the sprint) thinking I had a shot to get back in time but if I was over it would be not more than 1 minute. Well, I got the control fairly clean and made a good creek crossing, but fumbled with the punch at the very last control and struggled up the hill to the lodge with a 30 second overage. Probably not a bad choice since I would have lost the 18 control footrace with Mike and Nate to the finish. Finished with 19 controls and a 1 control penalty.

I cant decide if the backyard fireworks show (it must have been a big backyard!) and serenade of Pink Floyd and ELP that was along the entire west boundary of the park(8 controls) helped me pass the time or was a hindrance. A was a bit concerned I had run off the map and into an area code east of Rochester ;-) At least they were good tunes.

Walking 25:00 [3] 1.6 mi (15:37 / mi)

RTP loop at lunch

Stretching 10:00 [1]

Not good at consistently stretching before after a run. Maybe logging will help me along...

Running 42:00 [3] 5.44 mi (7:43 / mi)
shoes: PI - SyncroFloat

Turk Hill/Perinton Park loop. Even at 10:00PM the humidity was quite noticeable.
