Orienteering race 46:56 [5] 7.85 km (5:59 / km) +207m 5:17 / km
shoes: X-Talon 212 Black

WA Classic Day 2 at Warranine, H1.
Heel was still really sore warming up so I was really hoping for a more technical course today to give me an easier time holding tRicky off. It was a bit more difficult than day 1 but still looked pretty easy so I wasn't confident until I got to the start as tRicky was going to start his second course and told me he hadn't set a very challenging time for me.
Heel was sore from the first step to the last but I didn't really believe tRicky so tried to just ignore the pain and keep pushing. A few controls around 6/7/11 were a little trickier than they looked but still a very fast course. Didn't really lose any time and pushed as hard as I could. Passed Komy at 11 which helped motivate me through to 15 as I didn't want him doing the repass. tRicky wasn't kidding about making it easy for me so I ended up with an 8 minute margin today.

Having trouble walking afterwards but felt a bit better after a few hours digging out the big oleander in the front yard.

Tennis 30:00 [1]

Had a bit of a hit with Liam, then noticed Nick Mitchell hitting serves by himself so got him to take over from me.

WA Classic Day 1 at Warranine, H1.
This was a very easy course technically which made it very hard physically. I was very conscious of the fact that it was going to suit tRicky pretty well so I tried to push it as hard as I could. Passed Andrew Martin at 3, don't know where he was going. Caught sight of Graham ahead on the way to 8 and passed him at 10. I was feeling pretty knackered here and knew that it had been mostly downhill so far and we were about to start crossing back and forth over the top of the hill in the North end of the map so said something to Graham about having started too fast.

I had told tRicky before the start that I would be going around any hills if it was an option but once I got there it didn't ever seem worth it so I stayed pretty straight. I left 11 a little low so was trying to correct a bit when I saw Rachel ahead so I tried to watch her to see where she stopped to punch. I didn't see her punch and was surprised how much I had to drop to get to the control as I didn't think she had been that low. I didn't realise at the time but it turned out she hadn't been that low as she went straight from 11 to 13. Passed Rachel on the big climb from 13-14 which helped motivate me to keep running most of the way. Felt as though I might be going a bit beyond my limits here but held it together through to 17 where my mind started to go a bit. I was a bit wayward on 18 and briefly thought that it was the last control. It was just a flat out straight line run to the real last control where I tried to muster the best finish I could but it was uphill and I was stuffed so it wasn't enough to beat Liam. It was enough to get me a 35 second lead over tRicky going into day 2 though.

Heel felt ok during the race but got pretty sore after finishing.

Build run around the outside of KP. Stayed mostly on hard surfaces because I find it more comfortable when running in the dark, even with the headlamp.

Tennis 40:00 [1]

Little hit with Liam while Amy had her lesson, plus a bit more because Liam can never get enough tennis. Liam has improved, I expect he will beat me the next time we play a match.

Running 45:01 [3] 8.57 km (5:15 / km) +57m 5:05 / km
shoes: Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Blue

Easyish run in KP. Started out on hard surfaces to avoid needing a headlamp which probably contributed to running a little harder and faster than usual.
