running warm up/down 11:42 [1] 1.41 km (8:18 / km)

orienteering race 21:34 [4] 4.08 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: NB Zante v3

rel-yay! Finally felt competitive today, prob easier to push myself when I'm actually with people.

Takeaways from the weekend: Don't expect a lot when I haven't been training or preparing. Senior level competition requires practicing maintaining higher focus and physicality for longer. If want to be competitive I have to prepare both technically and physically for the terrain. And when I'm ready to return to the sport, I've got an awesome team to work for.

still hacking up crap

orienteering race 1:30:05 [4] 9.57 km (9:25 / km)
shoes: inov8 x-talon 230

I made several mistakes in the circle and had several other suboptimal route choices, but overall I felt like I was on top of my orienteering- navigating while running, thinking through my route plans, and picking my approaches instead of just blindly sending it. I was a little surprised I was 12 minutes back and 6th haha, I felt physically lagging but I didn't think I did that bad... Frustrating when most people felt they did better than yesterday, but what can ya do :-)

still a little congested but not much

orienteering race 53:09 [4] 4.77 km (11:09 / km)
shoes: inov8 x-talon 230

Messy race. Start situation was a bit stressful, wasn't as focused as I should've been. First 3 controls were sloppily trying not to die on the steep downhills. Next few were meh compass and not ideal route choices through the contours. Lost 7 min on 11 by first going to 1 (it was on the line) and then taking the higher approach to 11, which was a vague attack, and messing around in the wrong reentrant struggling to relocate. Struggled with the terrain for the rest. Overall, I'd score this as an L-.

ANOTHER dark run- this time in the 'burbs of Oakland. A little sketch bc there weren't many streetlights and people look scarier at night, but better than cougars and bears

score o at crooked river. Took it chill for US champs and being sick. Hit everything I planned pretty easily. Noticeably lost focus after ~1 hour, gotta make a conscious effort to work on that
