the track was locked up with the grounds crew watering and such . . . all sorts of "no trespassing signs" and "faculty, staff, student access only" . . . "private property" . . . a student climbed the fence to exit the track. security cars patrolling, so I opted for a jog up into Turnbull Canyon, in my Hoka Cliftons, not exactly trail shoes . . . beautiful goldenrod blooms from the recent rains, breaking the 7 year drought. up, up, up onto the canyon rim, then onto marked trails "Worsham Canyon", then back down, down, down, past graffiti pocked concrete. geesh, I'm paying a gazillion dollars to send my kid there so you'd think I could use the track.

travel day to LA . . . windy . . . dry . . . 88F feels like 70s. mouth so dry. the Bud looks good, hopeful for the 1500. tough to advance in the 800 with lots of 1:50 guys in each of six heats.

for an oval track, there sure is a lot going on sometimes, today was especially busy; the "personal trainer" group of five mid-age guys 40-ish showed up for what looked like some sort of benchmark test, they were doing timed situps, then 400m TT, one rep; then the Edgar Rd 5th graders showed up for their annual mile, then about 4 rec walkers, plus another personal trainer with his client doing 100m sprints. Busy!

Fortunately, I was about done when all the activity really picked up; but my one of the personal trainer 400 TT started just behind me so I was trying to keep from letting them pass me, which resulted in the 1:29, haha, social pressure running, which reminds me, we are social animals and run faster in a group.
