Mt Surprise and Buttonwood Trail GPSd. Felt rather good considering. Stinky day.

Running - hilly or rough race 1:47:49 [4] 7.6 mi (14:11 / mi) +1330m 9:11 / mi

Mt Washington race for my second year. Pretty hot dry day, even at the top. I died in the second half (unlike last year). Calves threatened to cramp in the last 1 1/2 miles and did with 200 m to go, right in front of my cheering friends and relations. 32 seconds slower than last year for several reasons: 1) a year older, 2) not getting enough water and Power Gel for the weather conditions, 3) not recovered from the Tuesday race, and 4) starting too fast trying to break the 1:43 record for age 67. Splits: 11:22, 13:08, 14:05, 14:10, 15:04, 14:56, 14:46, 10:14 (note first and last "miles" are not).

A true rest day unless vacuuming the house counts; it sure does make me tired. Calves still sore from the Tuesday race - turns out to be a bad omen.

Delayed too late in the day and had to do my two miles in pouring rain. My raingage caught a half an inch in the 20 minutes I ran!! Felt pretty good and I didn't sweat!

Saucony Series race in Whittaker Woods. Probably pushed harder than I should have, though I *tried* to ease off in the second half. Legs wobbly from the day before.

Up Kearsarge North Tr, across faint connector trail to Bartlett Mtn and down Bartlett Mtn Tr. Combination of jogging, hiking, hunting for trail, and bushwhacking. With Heather. Slow pace, which is what I needed this week.
