Sprint-O.

#1 - I had to be confident enough not to bite on flag that was on white course. I took it more to left that I planned originally because it did not look runnable going straight.

#2 - Somehow I was tempted to go to right but left option was faster

#3 - pretty much straight forward - running leg

#4 - key was to exit previous flag in the right direction to shave a second

#5 - I felt that right option was shorter then left

#6 - key for this leg was to stay close to red line as much as possible because it was tempting to lean to left.

#7 - I briefly considered going white right to pick up trail-head but I looked ahead and thought that I could save few seconds by going straight. Trail was not runnable and disappeared in few sport but I figured as long as I keep it straight I should be fine.

#8 - straight forward running however I started to have hard time pushing speed.

#9 - when I was pre-viewing this leg I considered going wide right and go up on yellow strip but once I got to #8 I concluded that white is runnable and went straight. I ended up just a little bit on left - probably this was poorest executed leg on this course.

#10 - straight forward running but I have noticed that when legs are shut it sends signals to my head creating confusion that maybe I am not doing it right and I might be making a mistake and I should stop and double check everything.

#10 - hugged green blubber going on right

#11 - Almost there but I was looking for every opportunity to stay close to red line as possible.

Score-O.

I started out with low expectations. I was open to drop out way before time-limit. I was just taking on flag at the time and I was not even pushing speed. I kept in mind what Stina said before the Score-O that clearing all flags might not be possible.

I smacked my left hand against the ground few times while navigating one of the slopes. As a result my brand new compass cannot be used as paperweight.

With about 25 minutes to go I looked at remaining flags and I realized that maybe I can clear them all but it would be close if I do.

At the end I missed to clear 3 flags.

Made a directional mistake after I smashed my compass which was bummer since I could have cleared at least one more flag. Irony of this mistake was that for most part courses I ran with my brand new compass did not require too much of checking directions however as soon as I smash my compass, I make directional mistake...

There were couple other inexcusable mistakes by missing to read one of the trails - I did it initially but during execution I overlooked trail and made a parallel mistake. Another one was when I cut too soon to get to flag close to the marsh.

If my execution was cleaner, avoiding just dumb mistakes I could have cleared all flags.

Note

It's comforting to know that Sabres are finally getting serious about Stanley Cup bid.
