Orienteering race 15:20 [1]
shoes: Adidas Neptune XC Spikes (Seco

Sprint-O at Black Creek. Since I was meet director I did Sprint-O in the middle of Score-O without warmup since I needed to get back at finish line to time Score-O folks.

Made 2x1 minute mistakes going from 6 to 7 and from 8 to 9. Rob Stevens beat me by 30 seconds.

I guess I was too relaxed since no Will, no Mike, No Rob H, no Nate L. were in town and forgot that Rob S. can put together nice race.

An no excuse to get careless to have 2 mistakes.

Since I got to go in first I did not have any clue about directions. Even it was in location I have run before I did not feel I had advantage since decision to go for Sprint-O was instant and all I had was 1 minute to prepare and off I went...

Warmup before ER 5K

Running race (ER 5K) 18:49 [5] 5.0 km (3:46 / km)
shoes: Brooks Racing

My goal was to go under 19 minutes, secretly hoping to go faster.

First mile was fast (as usual for me) but again I was struggling to maintain nice stride. Brad Sobel - ex short-track speedskater, now to-be middle distance runner - was just ahead of me during first mile. Even he is shorter for about 4-5 inches his stride was longer then mine. Even so I passed him about at mile 3/4 and never saw him behind me.

Missed 1 mile mark, but at mile 2 I was 11:43. Last mile was strangle but I had enough strength to go under 19.

There was this runner who looked like Mr Been. He passed me withing last half mile and what I did not know that he was resident of East Rochester as well.

Overall I placed 15th, 2nd of East Rochester. I was able to beat ER Track and field coach who used to be in LOT better shape he was showing today. I did not check my age group standings..

UPDATE: I was 3rd in my age group

Note
(rest day)

Recovering from Lake Placid Trip. My back is recovering from sleeping on airbag for 2 nights. I need to do camping trips for often to get used to less-then-comfortable sleeping.

Note
(rest day)

Lots of walking around while watching Ironman at Lake Placid. Not exactly a rest day but not too much of high intensity workouts to log
